Been kinda poking around reading up about Electromechanical Gun Games this week on Marvin3m and other places. Seems like a cool thing that I can picture people really digging if you had one in your basement. Anyone have one, or opinions on them?
I read Williams gun games used a lot of pinball parts and are therefore easier to maintain. Wonder what they run for on average and what the challenges are in keeping them running...
Also, what about other non-pinball or video games are you guys into? Like puck bowlers, or those full on mini bowling alleys.
Just trying to start a conversation really.

I have one that was for sell for couple month, just decide that I will keep it. Very fun game, everyone like it in the gameroom, and it's look awesome when the third round of shooting start with the black light lightning

I have a EM gun game called Midway Gang Busters that's neat but doesn't work 100% yet. I need to find a new motor for the car and need to adjust the 8-track player (no music/voices at the moment). They're neat but a pig to move. Looking forward having a real game on it one day. http://marvin3m.com/arcade/gangbus.htm
I also have a 2-player EM pitch 'n' bat by Williams called Upper Deck. It has sound effects and a running man unit in the backbox ... but it needs work too. http://users.cis.fiu.edu/~jweiss/upperdeck/
I'm trying to have a variety of games for the basement including a few 'multi-arcade' cabs. Hopefully, I'll get a Super Chexx in there one day as well. Space permitting, a couple of sit-downs drivers.

Great to have lots of space . But also , more space = more games = more trouble shooting = more $$$ ...
So Kevin , i wish for you to get them sit-downs drivers ...

Ya, the drivers would take up a lot of potential unfinished project/headache room but kids seem to get more of a kick out of the drivers than pinball. Plus, I like them too.

Those Monster Hunt and Gang Busters games are super cool lookin'. Love the art on both!
I can definitely say that the Chexx table gets the most plays in the house when people are over. Probably because it's unique and easy to understand, which kinda led me to start sniffin' around the gun games. Think it'd be a similar thing.
Love a driving game too like you guys were saying, but man the room all this stuff takes. I'm already at the point where I need to start bashing walls in the basement.

Pinball is a lot of fun ... to me ... but the kids dig real-time competition and not having to wait their turn. They love playing my Super Sprint. I plan to add good 'ol games like Joust, Tetris and Mario Bros but also the likes of Street Fighter games in another cab. NEO GEO had quite a few great head-to-head/simultaneous 2-player games as well including Puzzle Bobble, Metal Slug and Samurai Showdown, of course.
A ball bowler would be friggin' awesome. Jim from Topl has a 16 footer (I think) and it is a hoot to play but it takes up a LOT of real estate.
Upper Deck is 2-player game but Gang Busters is not. I hope to find out if the 1-player novelty wears thin quickly or a keeper. There are 2-player EM shooters but there's also T2 and Lethal Enforcers! Maybe a dedicated mame shooter cab would be more fun. Ultimarc.com has recently released their Aim-trac: http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html. The experience wouldn't be the same but more fun?

Played the coin-op bowling alleys at Expo this year and was lovin' those. Dude said they were like 8k though, which seems mega high seeing as I'm thinking the space those take up is insane, even by our standards.

Gun games are lots of fun. I remember playing Pinball Wizard's Shoot Out. I was HOOKED. It's one of those types of games that you always end up sneaking in a game or two.
If I had space, I would definitely get a shooter, as well as a mechanical driving game. VERY high on my list. I would still love to get a Sega Grand Prix or maybe a Speedway one day.
