Just noticed Ed Cheung is a CPR artist.  Cool!

I've never met Ed - but looking at the stuff he's pulled off in the pinball field is impressive....

Seems he's teamed up with another guy, too...Cameron Jensen...

It's interesting how many Canadians are on the list that don't actively post on maaca. Do they lurk? Do they know about maaca? Or do they even care to be part of a forum?

Is his artwork blurry or in focus?

Just goes to show you that you may need to be a rocket scientist to work on pinballs. Any update on his WPC95 A/V ASIC emulation?

We are not as popular in the west. One or two members from Vancouver. And yes, there are always around 10-15 lurkers every day.

Ed's a pretty cool cat... I worked closely with him earlier this year for a month or two while we both tackled the
wpc cpu board asic reverse-engineering. Ed managed to to squeeze the 68B09 cpu core, and the wpc asic into
a single xilinx fpga, along with most of the other cpu support logic. i think he intends to fit the wpc95 A/V code
in there as well.
http://www.edcheung.com/album/album07/Pinball/wpc_sound.htm

I took a stand-alone xilinx fpga approach and emulated only the wpc cpu asic into my design, as seen in the working wpc cpu - asic board of my 'rush' machines... the asic I designed works 100% the same as the wpc, only without the real time clock.

I quite enjoyed working with someone that has similar ambitions to achieve the same goal.

Did your buddies ever get the holy grail gtb system 1 emulation worked-out in pinmame, or whatever they call it now? (I don't follow that forum much).

yes they did

Version 1.57 (December 2, 2007) - "System 1"
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The year is 1987, and NASA launches the last of America's deep space probes.
In a freak mishap, Ranger 3 and its pilot, Captain William "Buck" Rogers
are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support
systems and returns Buck Rogers to Earth 500 years later.

We had begun to think it would take 500 years to emulate Gottlieb System 1...
but thanks to an anonymous MAACA member, we finally got good reads of the bios
chips and they are now emulated.
Get our your cards and backgammon boards, lucky Buck is back!

I cannot even imagine how much time was put into this; and to think over all that time, and handed all the engineering, Wayne Gillard was still unable to have the ASIC's reproduced.
