Seriously....  $8k is a crazy price to pay for a pin...

MM is good, but it's not "that" good...

I personally think MM is hugely over-priced.

I can't find a single reason why it shouldn't be priced in the $3-4K range
(... other than perhaps scarcity..., but even then.. )

Over priced? Really? Can you think of any other hobby where the most desirable item within that hobby can actually be obtained by regular mortals? I think $8K is still cheap compared to other hobbys. Comics? Stamps? Cars? Hell you can spend more on some parts for a "classic" car.

There is one reason why MM isn't a $4k game: supply and demand. I'd take one at $4K. I'd take one at $4.5....maybe $5K....alright at $5,500 I'm out, but there are plenty of others willing to drop the coin and drive the price up.

After playing it a while back at Medvets's I can see why it commands the price. Now Cactus Canyon at that level? That doesn't make sense. I played it once and couldn't figure out what the fuss was about. I'll buck the trend here as one that bought on impulse MANY MANY times...go for it Sorcerer!!!!!!    ....the way you're buying A list machines you'll end up with one eventually anyway, so why not get it now and enjoy it sooner than later?????

Rebuilding...currently Scared Stiff, Guns N'Roses, Bally Harley Davidson, Fish tales, Slugfest, JVL Conquest standup, and a Wurlitzer Juke.

Well, the price may not be a factor depending on your affordability. If you make 200K a year then 8Gs isnt bad but if your low income I'd think twice.....also Will you actually plan to sell it later? Personally I dont buy pins to resell. If I get the one I really want ( IE Haunted House) its a keeper for me. I wouldnt sell it!

Exactly, If you want a Nice MM, this is right in the ballpark of what you have to pay, especially if you are buying from a collector or someone in the know.

Very good point...

Bottom line ... $8K is over-priced,  ...driven in large part by hype

Then again, like others have said, you won't find anything under $6K anyways,
so depending on how bad you want it,  an extra $2K "might" be justifiable ... to you...

I paid $4K+ for a Joust pin which few could justify, ...but it was worth it to me...

So here's what you do...
... you take a coin ... and call it on the flip !

Go for it, then sell it to me when you're bored with it. I'm sure by then I'll have room for it.

I think that price is fair (depending on condition) based on what I've seen lately online.

I have seriously considered a Paul Reed Smith "private stock" guitar.  would have a retail somewhere in the neighborhood of $15,000.
I've paid almost 8k for a single guitar in the past, but doubling that would be a little much.

And to be honest, the $8,000 Guitar i had?  I got rid of.  I much prefferred my standard stock model. (at 1/3 the price)

To me 8k is a LOT to pay for a pin.... if you haven't played it.   If you regular'd a MM pin and looked forward to playing it every single time? maybe.
If you've played it once or twice and are looking at the market desirability to push you into "is hould buy it" territory??? then I would say no.

Don't believe the hype.,

Pins:  TMNT (visiting Sparky)
Pinzilla (multipin project) (GOing to visit Terry!)

How long have you been in this hobby ?  If it's been only a short while, even just a few years, you need to go through the normal evolutionary process before you start owning the cherriest of the cherry pins.  Let's say you go out and buy MM, MB, BBB, CC, and whatever.  Then what ?  Where do you go from there ?  Is $8000 a lot to pay for a pin ?  Hell yeah.  Like it, hate it, whatever, that's a lot of $ for one machine.   But that's what makes it something you can work towards.  Buy that IJ, LOTR, etc, then one day, perhaps even on your deathbed, get that MM.  Then you can die happy.

Adam's Pinball purchase rule #346:
It's not a house, so you can't live in it. It's not a car, so you can't drive it to work. It's not food, so you can't eat it. If you have to use credit to buy it then it's out of your price range. Best to wait till you have the cash.

But then again, some people are more comfortable carrying debt then I am.
