Just curious from a comment that somebody in Allentown made about damage to their transwmission that pre-sold a bunch of playfield glass. If this idea flew (and I'd be in for quite a few sheets) wouldn't the weight of 50+ sheets of glass be hard on a minivan or truck? Let alone safety during transport?
Anybody know?

One sheet by itself (no packaging) weighs about 10 pounds. Not sure what it would be like to transport 50+ |

Ask Sabrina to rap it either 5 or 10 sheets per pack. 5 sheets is still pretty akward for one person to move. When she packs them the put a dime size piece of foam on all corners between sheets. This keeps the glass from banging against itself. 50 sheets in a minivan no problem at all. I'm sure if you ask her for a better deal on a bulk buy, she will do something for you guys.. Andrew.

I'm in for a group buy - could do 5 - but prefer 3.
Random thoughts: Its probably cheaper to hire a delivery company? Its roughly $75 in gas each way (excluding any wear/tear on the vehicle + time) - could we find a delivery service to one house for $150?? |

That would be 5000 lbs at 10 lbs a sheet.
... I won't hire you as my accountant ... 50 sheets @ 10lbs = 500 lbs , not 5000lbs Still alot of weight, but nothing a minivan, SUV or pickup couldn't handle easily... Steph |

When I last bought it, each sheet was separated by a piece of cardboard. Normally I charge $50 per pin to come to Kingston / Ottawa. So I'd be inclined to charge $40 a sheet (including the glass ) to cover time and gas (don't forget that I have to pick it up as well), plus I have to charge sales taxes (that's what you get for running a business). Also, I always use real tiedowns hooked into the seat restraints, and covered by a moving blanket top and bottom, I'd say it would be as safe as anything else. Remember, if these broke you'd be rich! Millions of little diamond cubes, not sharp pieces of glass. But what a mess and how to explain to the insurance! |

Just throwing it out there... To be honest, I'd be willing to do the run if folks are willing to pay $13 extra a sheet and there was min. and max. 50 sheets ordered, min. 5 sheets per person. If my math is right, that's $650 to go to Toronto and back. I'd do that. Wonder if there is a cheaper method? What would a shipping company charge to come to Ottawa? How many pieces makes it attractive for folks? Duane |

No offense, but adding $13 per sheet is nearly a 50% increase from the original $27 price. ...and $650, even after paying for gas, is a nice little profit [... granted, time is money, but I'm guessing there are cheaper ways... "Sameday" could probably deliver to Ottawa for under $200 ... if you're willing to risk glass shipping... ] $5 per sheet might be more palatable. (although less profitable... ) Just my opinion,... no flame wars intended... Steph |
