So I need some help with this decision.  The new LE LOTR are coming out and Pinball Sales is selling for $4,9990 US plus freight and Starburst is selling for $5,990 plus taxes.  I want to add a LOTR to my collection so I just want opinions on who I should buy it from.  I have never bought a NIB pin nor have I ever dealt with Pinball Sales or Starburst.  I know that the price is steep so no point in pointing out the obvious

Save yourself the hassle and buy it from Starburst, IMO.. after conversion, taxes, freight and duty you're probably looking at paying more from the US anyway.

Now the question is.. is it really worth it?  You're not getting any of the playfield toys, and the only other difference (besides a numbered plaque) is the gold trimmed backglass.

You might be better off buying a HUO one and saving yourself $2-3k

Sorry for pointing out the obvious

I was under the impression that the BG was going to be a REAL back glass on the LE version??  (as in silkscreened)  But if that is the case my next question is what are they going to do about the back light situation?  Not sure a nice silkscreen BG is going to be all that impressive with just a FL bulb behind it?

The playfield will also have more coats of clearcoat.   The more I think about it the more I am starting to think like Machine.slave.  I could try and find a HUO pin or mint pin and save some money.

Just my opinion with what I have seen on Stern clearcoated playfields... whether you have 2 crappy coats full of dust and bubbles, or 4 crappy coats full of dust and bubbles... it is still a crappy playfield full of sealed dust and bubbles.

But it will be LE! You'd be so cool! And you won't have those stupid hobbitses on the playfield

Personally, I like the "hobbitses" .

I think the game would look really dull and empty without them...

I agree, I was being sarcastic but forgot the thingy

The one I own had a missing Pippin (or is it Merry?), I had to order a 3 piece set on ebay to find a replacement. I haven't gotten around to putting him on though, still need the plexi base.
