...were the words uttered my son's hockey team-mates  (7 yr olds...)
when they came over for a team Christmas party at our house
as saw my games room  !    

All 15 players, their parents and siblings (about 50 people) came for a pot-luck Christmas party
yesterday, and put my games room through it's paces.

Other than telling a few hyper-active 7yr olds not to mash the flippers on my pins,
everything went well, and the games held up fine.

My 5 pins, 3 sitdown racers, 3 vids, chexx hockey, and slot machine were kept busy for 6 hrs straight.
Kids had to fight their parents off to play the games.

Chexx was a big hit (...no surprise there since this was a hockey team),
but the slot machine was surprisingly popular with the moms and the daughters.

The kids had a hard time reaching the pedals on the racers,
but the dads had to be peeled away by their wives when it was time to leave...

And today I've got enough left-over food and deserts for a week !

Overall a great party !

Not surprised, with 4 players we always have more fun on Chexx that any other arcade game.

Unfortunately, I was too damn busy "catering" the party
that I never thought to take some pics of the games in action...

All I have are a few pre-party pics of my kids testing out the Chexx.
(... the Chexx I picked-up from GJD's bulk buy back in August)

I had hoped to have it fully restored in time for the party,
but of course that was a pipe dream...

I only managed to get the base painted and clean it up a bit.
It still needs a ALOT of clean-up, but the red base looks pretty good.

It was a US game, but I want to convert it to a "Canadian" version.
It played the US Ahtem when you started a game,
but I managed to find the Canadian Anthem sound file
and programmed it to an eprom.
(... first time I've actually programmed an eprom for "myself"  ! )

The dome is rough and I'd love to replace it,
but I'm not ready to plunk $350 on that just yet...

Still, it played great, and the kids just loved it...

I had a similar experience recently with a group of guys that came over for an afternoon of 'pops' and NFL football. We all play together on a competitive softabll team and they all wanted to take a shot at Slugfest. It definitely got a good workout that afternoon.
I would love to add a Super Chexx to the stable. Definitely a game that appeals to all ages and both sexes. My wife and I have had some good Chexx battles at local establishments.
Anybody else have a 'must play game' that people always play when they are over??
