Over the weekend on The Price Is Right, the would-be contestants had to guess the price of a Simpson's Pinball Party Machine and it was funny what everybody thought. The first 4 guessed like 700, 900, 1200, and 1201 or something like that. The 'bimbo-looking' lady, the last guesser, estimated 4200. . I was just surprised at how clueless most everybody was on the price of a pinball machine! The actual retail price was 4500 and change.

Hwo does it work to get a product on the show? Did Stern pay CBS to get it on there? If so, how does it look if people really undervalue the product. Or is it a case of any exposure is good?

Typically, companies offer up their products at no cost to the network in return for "promotional consideration". The amount of exposure each product receives is relative to its retail value.
So, for Stern, they're gaining national exposure on a hit daytime TV show for a non-cash investment of less than $4K (whatever their cost is on a machine). It's a smart marketing strategy when funds are limited.

Really? That's awesome. Man, it's been sooooo long since I've seen that show.
Sounds like it's the advertisers that are getting the raw deal then (if it's so cheap to be feautred on the show itself). But then again, how could they feature dentures on the show?
