For anyone following "As the Pinball Turns" here, I picked up Black Knight 2000 from Menace's on Sunday - I've been wanting this one for quite some time, and I know it came from Mark's collection before that.  Aahhh... it's so beautiful.

I haven't turned her on yet, still going through the the usual pre-boot checks, replaced some inconsistent fuses and have been replacing burnt GI connectors galore, going to upgrade the power supply, etc.  I think this is the part I like the best, the anticipation before the first game ... "Will it be like I remember it?  IS the vpinMame version better than the real thing?"  I almost want to draw it out, fearing the other side of the mountain is fast approaching....

It was nice to get to meet Menace and put a another face in the MAACA handle puzzle!

Congrats Wayne on the purchase, I remember you called it one of your "holy grail" pins and hopefully it will live up to expectation.

I put a few miles on that one (moving it).

It's in nice shape. Nice to see it stayed with the group.

that sounds kind of ominous....    So far it's been a blast and I haven't played it yet (or this game in years)!

If I'm likin' it, I think it's a likely candidate for a speaker upgrade and dehum circuit.

You're a better man than I am...  I'm of the instant gratification generation.

I power up immediately..  THEN if something doesn't work I start investigating..  I do the fuses/upgrading once I start the shop job - which is usually a few months down the road..

I have been impatient in the past and once it wasn't good (fuse and transistors blew due to stuck coil), and much to the chagrin of my neighbour who helped move it in expecting to play a game as reward...  ... however I'm anticipating this "possibly the greatest pinball ever made" to be a keeper so I'm babying her.

And besides which I am one of those who likes to tinker repair and refurbish almost more than play.

Well I admit that the 1st time I turn on a machine I leave my finger on the switch 'just-in-case'...  You can always hear a coil fire when you turn the machine so you shouldn't blow fuses / transitors...  Anyway the transistor is already blown if the coil is stuck on!!

You're right, I do the same thing, it's that smell of enamel burning that let's me knwo I've waited too long.  The more I work on these, the more I can anticipate what's goign to happen.

P.S. Have you picked up your Silver Slugger yet?  I'm still feeling a little raw about that one!     [I know, I know, you snooze you lose...]

You're right, it still rubs though (comme si comme sa) .  It may be for the best as it would be living under a plastic tarp until i could squeeze it into one of my sheds...

I guess it is best..  It's currently living in my garage and getting used by the me, the kids, & my dad when he drops by.

It's actually not bad for a Gottlieb, especially a "street level game'..  Next: 6MDM (which will also live in the garage for a while).
