One picture was dated 2004 and another one was easily recognized from IPDB. So, I emailed asking if those pictures were his actual machine. He emailed back that they were except for the flyer pic. The backbox which was from IPDB looked factory mint by the way. Then I recognized the large font, etc. He had been running this machine a while back also.

Maybe he learned from Anderson/Uttley!

I told him I would have been interested if he had replied honestly about the pictures.

Keep in mind that using pics from IPDB doesn't necessarily indicate a scam since it is "possible" ( although not likely ) that the seller could be the person who supplied those pics to IPDB.    My Mata Hari, for example, is featured on half a dozen pics on IPDB, although if I sold the machine, I would probably be taking new ones and not using old pics.

It does sound however, like you found several other reasons why the ad was suspiciously "scam-like" or at least misleading....which is a type of scam in itself really.

I don't want that machine. Just thought it fit Andersons MO. It's not him, but the guy really shouldn't deny he used pics of another machine...which I am sure he did.  No big deal, probably quite common amongst non-collectors.

I agree, its always best to take fresh pics of the machine you're selling. The Pinbot I'm selling...it's on IPDB, my machine, yet I still took a pile of fresh shots for interested buyers.

Then I guess that would make you the Stan M who contributed the last set of Pinbot pics on IPDB. Nice photos by the way. Great ball view shots. Good luck with the sale. I suspect yours is in the condition that Anderson/uttley would have people believe his was in. In reality his will be a project pin at best.

Incidently, the guy who is selling the machine in question in this string just emailed me insisting he just took the back box pic even though not only is it from IPDB but he also ran the identical add w/identical pics a few months back. What a dork!
