Eh, I got killed over at VPForums for this but meh

My friend has a Gottlieb "Spring break" (Now my all time fav pin) and it has a couple of problems

1. A set of drop-targets (the lower lefthand side) refuses to come up. I have no clue why, but applying a jumper to it for power will allow it to come up.

2. A set of 20 or so lights have never come on since he got the CPU board fixed. And the chance of 20 bulbs being burnt is... well... yeah....

3.The speaker in the backbox will pop on and pop off very often. I think this means it's bad? The connections are very good and such.

Any help would be nice, He's not technologically advanced so i'm doing it for him

Thanks

Thanks!

Item 1: Could be a burned fuse under the playfield for that drop target reset bank.
If not, could be connectors between MPU to Driver board, or at the driver board.
Or, the driver transistor for that DT reset coil is bad (would typically burn the fuse too after).

Is the Ground mod performed on the machine ?
Any corrosion on the MPU to driver board harness fingers and connectors ?

Item 2: Still could be the MPU to Driver harness/connectors for controlled lamps.
Or worse (chip on MPU).

Item 3: Could be an intermittent speaker, volume control, bad electrolytic
cap on the sound board, or cold solder joint under the sound board, or bad
amplifier chip. Is that amp running too hot ?
Is the speaker at the bottom of the cabinet still OK ?
(if so, then it is an intermittent connector or bad intermittent speaker).

Good luck,
Cheers,
- Sylvain

1. All fuses are good. No corrosion on the connectors, but i think they need to be replaced. Not sure on the ground mod.

2. Had the MPU sent in for repairs. 4 chips were bad. Had them all replaced.

3. Speaker at the bottom of the cabnet works. It's never gone off.

Thanks!
