AND, bty, I'd like to add...

I'm pretty sure I bought a machine off this guy. Was in Hamilton, games were packed in a garage. I bought an F-14. Had player 3 display out, Some broken plastics, needed some touch ups and kept tilting once in a while, for some strange reason. He says, dont worry, all ya gotta do is adjust the tilts etc...which was a pile of crap. Before this I wasnt privy to the term...RANDOM TILT. And you can bet your a** HE knew what was up. I think I talked him down $50 and hauled it away. I knew this machine had potential, I had a hunch.

But, aside from the lying...which is really mostly the point...oh, forgot to add, he said he'd send me the replacement display. I emailed him back a few times and of course I never saw that display. Oh, to finish that thought...the actual dealings were rather pleasant and we got to talking and he was ready to let me have a complete non working Aztec so I could have all the parts I needed for later repairs and upgrades to my Aztec.
So, he was actually nice...in a way...not defending him, not by ANY means...he still kinda screwed me, didnt totally screw me...misrepresented what he was selling for sure, but I can see why people dont like him. He does strike me as the type to not give a mess really and he's a bit rough around the edges.

So, after I immediately open up my F-14 and notice that every tilt mech was spread wide apart, I knew I had bigger issues. So I figured out which resistor network needed replacing. Actually I replaced two of them, one was an isolated resistor network that I had to make myself by tying nine 1K resistors together, or whatever it was. And I posted that fix on RGP and I've been thanked for solving that problem and writing the fix in a clear and absolute manner. Because before it was bits and pieces, guys not sure which R network etc. Just a mess to figure out. And its a really common problem on that machine too.
Ayways, in the end, I have the last laugh. It's nice proto F-14, rewired the flashers, got everything working, cleaned up splendid, cleaned everything starposts etc, all new rubbers, had a spare pop. pf to pick the best parts off of, cab touched up great, couple of pics of the pf on IPDB...it plays like new and looks killer. Like I said, I had a hunch about this machine. I could just see it would fix up well. I want to sell a machine right now to fund another purchase and I should sell this one but I just cant part with it. Way too sweet.

So, thanks mr Hamilton...or Guelph, or whatever. I win.

Stan

Can members refrain from using our group name and symbol in such cases, if it is a member that did so? I would greatly appreciate it.

You posted the edit link. This could get interesting.

I had to hold back on editing it for laughs but Sparky if you want to remove any MAACA references you have your chance.
