I was watching one of those shows where they sell houses and a guy had 9 pins in the house. The realtor tells him to remove all but TAF to show the house. When Mark was selling the realtor had him clear out his pins.

I say it's a conspiracy. Realtors have it out for pinball. I know if I came across a house with pins I would appreciate seeing them in there to size up the space for mine. What's wrong with these people?

I know the next questions. What did he have? Do you think he was selling them?

Realtors don't like anything in a house that isn't generic or just a touch artsy. Anything that is geeky or 'collectible' has to go. They are trying to help you get as much as possible for your house so they can land a bigger commission, so anything that will help that they are going to make you do.

i was looking to sell my condo last year, and the realtor visits.

she sees me and my girlfriend, and all my toys, and says she wants to put me on this HGTV show about selling houses, and that they'd pay me $3000 to do it. she talked about how it would be great tv drama to have them giving me mess on air about how i need to get rid of my pinball machines.

i was kinda interested in the $3000 (so i could buy more pins) but she seemed like too much of a shark and my instincts were telling me to tell her to take a hike. so i did.

guess some poor sap took the bait!

On the other side of the coin, California realtors are finding that most high end houses WON'T even sell unless there's a dedicated games room. (Globe and Mail article)

But hey, just in case, maybe we can pool together and get phoenix to print off  "pleasant country scenery" overlays, or maybe a snow covered old barn backglass!!, people LOVE snow covered old barns!!!

I was thinking of baking an apple pie off the isolation transformer on my Stargate if I ever sell. Apparently the smell of home baked apple pie leaves a good impression too.

Realtors = Used car salesman.  All they care about is their commissions.

Hmmm... quite the opposite for me last year... My agents (an old lady about to retire and a yong guy she was training) went nuts when they saw the gameroom! She broke out into stories about her playing pins in the 50s!!! She even asked me where I could get her one, and I gave her a few names for woodrails. Same thing for the younger guy... he kept playing Flight 2000 and said it was the coolest thing he ever saw in a house!

Retiring soon...

When I was in Australia back in Feb/Mar of this year I was in a shop in Melbourne (Bumper Amusements). As I talked with the salesman he mentioned that most new houses in Australia also come with a gamesroom as well (although Fooseball and such were more likely to be in the gamesroom compared with Pinball (Pinball is very pricey down under))

The realtors would ahve a field day at our house, machines in the living room, in the basement and in two sheds all in various states of repair/refurbishment right now.

Actually we've been looking for a house nearby for my in-laws, our agent must be "trained" as she specifically recommends properties with nice large garages and outbuildings that she knows I am plannign to use for "pin" storage.
