Hi All,

My last few transactions people were not aware of email money transfers.

This is a very low cost way of sending money quickly and securely. It is a service most banks offer and it is through Interac. Basically the sender pays a small fee $1.50 and the recipient pays nothing. Given the need for deposits and that people typically bank with different institutions this makes the transfer of funds easy.

I suggest people check it out. The web link is below.

http://www.interac.ca/consumers/productsandservices_ol_emt.php

Current Lineup:
Black Knight, Riverboat Gambler, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Flintstones, Orbitor 1, Wipe Out, Breakshot, The Simpsons Pinball Party, Fish Tales, Eight Ball and a 60 in 1 Cocktail.

Yes, I prefer this way of sending money as opposed to getting raped by paypal.

Its great if you deal with the big banks, larger credit unions are on it too.. smaller ones.. not so much.

I've been seeing more and more companies accept interac over the net too (via for example)

I have a line of credit with CIBC for the sole purpose of sending and receiving EMT's. I do most of my other banking with a bank that doesn't believe in providing services to its customers.

My BMO has a $1,000 daily cap though?   Can this be raised?

No idea. I never sent more than 750. I'm guessing yes it could be raised if you talk to them.

I don't care either way, but Paypal payment as a GIFT is no fees for both sender and receiver. $1.50 is worth it to me, if the recipient is a Paypal hater or isn't aware of this.

I will NOT use EMT with someone I have never dealt with before, or doesn't have something to show as being reputable. I sent Grauwulf an EMT for the Power Supply I bought off him, never dealt with him before but I can see by his interactions here and CGCC that he is to be trusted, otherwise I would not have gone without some form of payment I could chargeback if I got screwed.

But if you send money via paypal and label it as a "gift", do you have any recourse when you go back to them and say you got screwed? I'll bet you don't.

I've been using EMT for years and never have I ever seen a fee at my end as either the sender or receiver.

Paypal *SUX BAG* and I will avoid them whenever possible, even if it is possible to send money in a fee-less fashion.

No, but I wouldn't send it as a GIFT to someone I was unsure of. Would I have sent Grauwulf the money as a GIFT? Yep. Would have sent Daniel (McMean) the money the same way, both times.

I not only sent my money to those 2 on here by EMT, I asked what they wanted. $1.50 on a transaction with an upstanding member of a community is nothing to cry over is what I'm getting at, but I'm not afraid of no recourse with these people either by using Paypal GIFT...

You hate Paypal and I'd EMT a payment to you because you are a trustworthy member of this community. Had I found something you were selling elsewhere, and had no community interaction for me to see...not a chance.

I do EMT all the time, it is tied to the limit on your card (Bank Card). I have sent payments that I had to split over 2 days as I maxed out the limit. Fee is always $1.50 to the sender. I have had trouble with National Bank out east as they don't seem to use it and with Alberta Treasury Branch here as they charged the receiver $4.00 or $5.00 to get the money and took 3 or 4 days! Ridiculous!! PayPal's fees are a Joke, an expensive joke along with all the other crap, but I still use it all the time too, the fee's are on the seller usually, so if I am buying, it isn't an issue and if I am selling it is the cost of business.

Wish eBay.ca would let sellers require EMT on Buy It Now sales, by far the best way to deal in Canada.
