If you had a very expensive machine to sell, would you think to yourself "today, I'm gonna open an ebay account, having never sold anything on ebay before, and list my beautiful Addams Family pinball machine!!"?

Would you include a pretty crappy description? Would you take only one photo?

Probably not.

I've asked if I can stop by and take a look. I'll post the reply.

Strange... I could not find it using search in ebay.ca and ebay.com,
nor from looking into the pinball category.

However, using the link provided or item number re-directs to this cgi eby.com:

http://www.cgi6-eby.com/ws/eBa.....aluta=&main=pas2

This may be normal, but the redirection sure is strange for me...

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

This is VERY interesting. A new means of phishing that I am not familiar with. The auction is/was "legit" - meaning that it was listed on ebay yesterday. But it appears the "seller" has actually taken the ebay URL for his auction and made it redirect to a phishing site that looks identical to the actual ebay auction. That way, if you ask a question or watch the item, you enter your username and password and, Bob's-your-uncle, you've given the prick your information. Having said that, however, the original link did not redirect to the phishing site when I clicked the link to the ebay auction this morning. Only when I got into work and clicked the above link did Firefox suspect something was wrong and warn me. This leads me to believe that the redirect was just set-up in the last hour.

Needless to say, I've changed my password since asking the question this morning just to be sure.

EDIT: Also, the fake "legit" auction (the one that is actually on the ebay site) has a starting bid of $12, whereas the redirected site has a BIN of $1800. If you watch the site closely as it redirects, you can see what I mean.

SuckySites.push("Ebay.ca");
SuckySites.push("Ebay.com");

Like we needed that, i hope this serves a lesson to everyone from now on (me included) that Ebay is NOT safe, always make sure you are looking at a real Ebay page. That phishing technique will be used a lot from now on i suspect (probably was already, i just never seen it before, must be using an exploit to run html code in the page).

I totally believe you Cooke when you say that it has been modified after the listing, just once people started to spread the word on the "good deal" ...

Mine was not so bad i change my password once a month.
The funny thing is i used my old password and it log me in and i realised there was a problem there.
This is the first time I see ebay link used like that.
