Well, since the MPL is on it's way of truly happening, I do have a few questions on which I would like to get your feedback on.
1- Entry charge or league fees... what would you recommend? Of course, if free, that kind of eliminates any chance of prizes in the end... for now at least. If a minimal fee is charged, then our webmaster can get a bit, a host can get a bit, and the rest goes to a prize pool.
2- Rules... Vengeance sent me a link to the TOPL rules. Here: http://www.topl.org/rules.html . I agree with what he told me... looks like a lot, but it really is simple. I do like the median rule for a 3-player game. Easy to monitor.
Anything else that could come to mind, please, by all means, post on it. I would like for these meets to be fun and "light"... not super competitive. Almost more of a meeting than a competition.
And how do you feel about a vids section as well? I believe that there should be a vids division. Why not? I have both vids and pins, and I would think it cool to have a vids tourney as well. I personally love to watch a skilled player on a vid. Always fun to see...
That is the question ! As proposed before , meetings would be once a month and i ' m willing to drive 2 and a half to 3 hres = some $40.00 gaz $$$ round trip . So , i ' d say $10.00 to make it a $ 50.00 expense in my case ...
My opinion ...

Well it can be free to start, let's say for the first three months... than we will really know if people are serious and after that.
And maybe small entry charge like 5$
1$ for the webmaster, 2$ for the host and 2$ for the prizes.
I don't really care about prizes in the end... because I'm won't win, but for the fun of it, why not.
What will be the prize? Winner of the night have is entry charge back and the rest go to a big pot for the cup ( probably not enough people to give prizes for the first three places).

$30 gets you an entire 15 week season and entry to the Playoffs.
We have a $5 host fee that everyone pays regardless of if they paid the $30 membership fee or not. This $5 fee is only present at private members locations. The $5 goes to the host to help pay for any food/drink they might put out, electricity for running all the games, and parts for repairing the machines.
If someone wants to come to a league night and they have not paid their $30 they can pay a $2 fee and this will allow them to participate that night. The $2 fee does not grant them entry into the playoffs and is not banked toward the cost of entry to the playoffs, if a player decides he wants to play in the playoffs he will still have to pay the $30 then.
Playoffs cost $30 for anyone who would like to participate that hasn't paid their league fee and $20 for any previous member who has paid the $30 at some point.
100% of all money taken in is paid out at Playoffs.
My suggestion, I think a $50 price point might be a bit high, I wouldn't mind $50 in TOPL but I have a good shot at winning the top cash prize so I'd be willing to put up the extra cash. But TOPL does have a B division for members so even lower skilled players would still have a shot at a cash prize, which would be larger by the fact the league fees were higher. I think the $30 price tag works epically for what you are getting, it works out to only $2 a night and you get playoffs for "free" so to speak, so 16 weeks of pinball with a awesome afternoon/evening of pinball at the playoffs. $30 is cheap enough that most people don't mind
The $5 host fee is something we started really only the last 2 years or so, it's a way to compensate hosts for opening up their home as we were finding we were starting to cause undue burden on some hosts when 30 people showed up for a league night. Now when were able to give them $150 if 30 people do show up, it really lightens the load and lets them know they are appreciated as we have some host locations that don't participate in the league anymore.

Don ' t know how to quote part of the text . I ' d like to know how ! thanks .
As for the TOPL set up , it could be used as a model and then mold by the administration in order to fit the MPL ...

I like the TOPL model. Of course, I can't ask members to pay 30$ right off the bat. More like 15$ league fee to start, then a 5$ fee per tournament. MacPhreak will get half of the 5$ fee for stats and keeping the website up to date. The other half can go to the host if he/she wants it. League fees will go to pay for season prizes. Playoffs would be roughly like 10$ to start...
Hmm... OK... I have a good idea on where to start...

I know i ' m quite far to host , but i ' d be glad to do so or to supply a pin anywhere tournements would take place and live it there as long as needed ...

OK... I think we will go for 15$ league entry fee, 5$ per meeting. Once we get to late spring, we will have a playoff at 10$ total entry.
For season play, there will be a prize for the season champ and a couple of participation draws. And for the playoffs, it will be pretty much all that will be invited since we are starting out, and players will be matched according to their season performances.
I don't know when the OPL wants to hold their first official meeting, but I suspect it will be early September... so I will tentatively schedule the first MPL meeting on Saturday September 26th. That gives me time to prepare a bit...
(Exemple Ms Pac-Man)
