Every age (be it the machines' or the persons') brings on a different fascination. The era preferred in and through the context of our present time, is usually directly associated with the memories which the machines we first played conjure up for each person answering this poll.
Driving to a service call this week, I was listening to an old tape recorded interview from the fifth Pinball Expo (1989- I believe) with historian and author Richard Bueschel and he said something that I think may be relevant here in this thread.
We were talking about where pinball was going in the 90's with all these ramps, multi-balls and 3 dimensional craziness etc. and he said, - "...somehow you just can't seem to overload youth..."
Sometimes I feel as old as the flipper itself reading some of your comments, and I am kind of glad. By the by, the flipper is 62 years-old.
Cheers to you all, - after the EM's there was just more and more noise until pinball 2000 practically killed the game, while Gary Stern picked up the pieces & played his cards.
Toujours à la recherche de vos histoires liant Montréal et les machines à boules. Always looking for your Montreal based pinball stories.
I think that most of us would choose any pin over none. If you rented a cabin somewhere and there was an old EM (for those that like new 90's 2K macines) you would likely be happy and play the pin; same cabin with a new machine (For those EM fans.) My point is that pinball is fun and there are aspects of every machine and era that are fun.
Yes I realize that the question is favorite so I agree you should put your favorite down. I just wanted to point out that there are benefits (and disadvantages) to each era. If you look at the positives any pin can be fun.
