Well, I emailed and cancelled my Friday meeting with this guy. It wasn't going to be cash and carry, and I wasn't at all comfortable about the prospect of delivery after reading this thread and the info on Mr. Pinball. Ah well, maybe the Magic City machine at the Church will pan out.
If anyone knows of any EMs (especially wedgeheads) for sale, let me know.
So this criminal is now fixing computers and big screen tv's. Maybe he's getting a bit tired of his scams in the audiofile and pinball communities being exposed. These are relatively small groups of people who could be the targets of his crime. But to go into computer equipment and television....that opens up a whole new and huge pool of victims for him. I get chills thinking of the person who takes their laptop computer to this guy with all kinds of sensitive data on it - not only might you never see it again but he'd probably steal or sell your identity too.
One thing I notice about Anderson/Uttley is his thefts and frauds are each relatively small and he targets people he can intimidate. Of all the theft and fraud I have read about - the most seems to be around a few thousand dollars - I am sure he realizes that this keeps him off of the police radar. With limited resources police would be more reluctant to expend them building a case against a guy who does theft under $5000 when even if he gets charged he would just get a slap on the wrist in court. I think that theft over $5000 would have much more serious penalties attached.
...But try telling that to the poor sucker who loses their Christmas money to this slimeball.
Basically he said that everyone on MAACA and CGCC are just a-holes and that we're all just angry and jealous that we'll never sell as many pinball machines as him

He had these ads posted in Windsor Kijiji also. How does he scam local people? I understand ebay when people send $ with seeing the machine but on Kijiji dont you actually go and see the machine first? I know the guy is a slime ball but I am just looking for HOW his scam works.

This wanker enticed me out to Hamilton last year to supposedly look at a pin he was restoring. He gave me an Anne Street address but never answered the door and never showed up. I figure he had a look at me through the blinds and decided I didn't look stupod enough to get scammed. He was using his landlord's name at that time.
Stay clear of this guy. He's probably a real freakjob.
I read (I think on one of the audio forums) that one of the ways he scams Ontario people who come to view his items is this: once he has sucked you in and gets you to buy his item he makes up some kind of excuse why you can't take it with you, ie it needs a new part or he is waiting for a manual or something. He offers to deliver the item to you for free at a future date. Of course he asks you to pay for it or leave a hefty deposit on the spot. Once you leave his nest you never see your money or your item again.
as an earlier poster mentioned he most likely checks you out behind closed blinds first to determine if you are vulnerable to this scam. It seems like many who have gone to his lair say he takes quite a bit of time to answer the door. He's probably deciding if he can intimidate you or if you will beat him senseless if he tries anything.
I actually have a time set up on Friday to see the Big Hit machine in this ad (http://tinyurl.com/6677sh) and a 4 Square he says he has. Now I think I'm going to pass and just go to Church of the Silver Ball that night. I've had notes from 2 addresses (doctor_electrical@yahoo.com and pinball_repair@yahoo.com) -- both notes came from someone named James, but when I talked to the guy on the phone, he said one was his partner. It's sounding more and more fishy. Do those 2 numbers and a shop address at 289 Inverness in Hamilton mean anything to anyone?
Thanks to all -- I think you may have saved me some real headaches.
doctor_electrical@yahoo.com is the email he used with me and the star wars pinball....I wired him $1800 for the machine before I saw all this OMG! This was to be a gift for my kid for christmas. He is now totally being an a** and getting pissed at me for accusing him of being a scammer. He has $1800 of my hard earned money and has not sent me any shipping info or anything. I wired money into a TD bank account and have all that info so maybe I can track it down. I need help! anyone who knows info on this guy address phone number anything please let me know. He has not only stolen $1800 but this is a kids christmas we are talking about. At the end of the emails he is always typing Roger and Roxanne and the bank info is in the name Roxanne Belanger.
Thanks for any help...I am on the other side of the country or would confront him in person myself.
From an earlier part of this post, 289 Inverness Ave. Hamilton
Call the Hamilton Police, maybe? Call TD? Call that Irish dude also mentioned in this thread? I am very sorry to hear about it, Dino. I hope you get your $$ back.
