as far as adsense goes it takes up very little real estate and actually does bring some money but barely enough for a coffee each month.

From what I can tell people are complaining about something they are getting for free.
Remember, no one forced you to join and no one is forcing you to stay.

In my honest opinion, if you want a say in what is on the site aside  from the normal content then maybe you can pay for some of the fees that Sparky covers each month.

As for donations, I accept them, but reluctantly. To be honest, I have given most donations collected over 4 years to the Montreal Children's foundation. Besides, within a few weeks, the playfield work should help out. And also, I am trying to get MacPhreak a pin, but he has space issues. He also does all the webwork for free. So the annoying ads are authorized by me in order to get Mac a little something for the work. If they are that much of a hindrance, I will pay Mac out of my pocket and remove the ads.
