Hi, anybody known where I can get a used pin dolly? Not ready to pay too much, I've heard of the skates but that won't help me when I need to take the legs off.

I got lucky when i got mine for 40$ They where liquidating them. All the costco i have seen dont have them anymore. Try princess auto tho they had a version for about same price not sure how it works.
Costco use to have nice hydraulics ones for under $100.
I know many guys here on MAACA bought one (...myself included ).
I don't know if they still carry them though ...
Cheers, Steph
Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.
Costco doesn't carry the item anymore. I've seen one that seems very decent at princess auto, but it can only lift 300 lbs. I have a TZ, I don't know how much it weights but I can imagine it might be a bit abve 300 lbs. Should I still consider buying one? The catalog number is this: 8150906
There's this one I'm considering, that's an bolt-on to a Sears ATV jack. I haven't checked Sears.ca to see if this jack is available here. Not sure what their "tilter" is???
Move your pinball game with ease After months of testing and evaluating I am now going to start selling an extension to the Craftsman 1,500 pound ATV jack.(Model number 50190) This comes with 8 bolts that use current holes on the jack. This will hold the weight of any pinball game and will even fit under a Safecracker, which a regular pinball jack won't.
The Pinball Lifter will fit on the current ATV jacks being sold at Sears. The atv jack has existing holes on top of jack to mount the lifter. email with any questions.
This unit can be stored under the pinball machine after use. The price for the Pinball lifter is $110 plus shipping. The craftsman atv jack can be purchased at any Sears store for aprox.$90 We now have a wheel kit to raise the ground clearance of the jack for $55(4"rubber faced steel wheels with roller bearings compaired to stock 3" steel) We also have a Pinball Tilter, cost is $185 You can see pictures of the lifter & wheel kit at: http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8AaOGLdo4ZNWIn
I've seen it in Chicago. It lets you flip the game on its back once you've removed the legs or vice-versa.

Wait until you see this jack. The original one with the steel wheels is great on concrete at the shows but not for a house floor. He obviously addressed this with the "added" wheel kit but it's getting pretty pricey at that point as you still have to buy the jack. The original ones alot of us bought at Costco was made by Champion and is a 600 lb capacity. Mine gets quite a regular workout and is still holding up great. I can set up and take down and move games all around by myself with this jack. Maybe try a search for that brand name and see if sold by other companies in Ottawa.
I've seen the one at Sears, unfortunately if you go on the Craftsman product page, everybody says it's a piece of garbage. Definately not going to go with that one. Especially it there's a chance the hydrolics might leak onto my newly installed carpet. I'm starting to think I should probably make my own using the standard pinball dolly mechanism. Not sure I'd trust my own build more than a commercial one though.
It's rated for 300lbs, (which should do for most pins...), and has 27" of clearance. You'd have to measure the width so that you know for sure it would fit between the front legs on your pins.
Well I'm gonna go with building my own with a 2 tonne jack as I can't find one at a fair price. Which part of the cabinet do the current professional pinball lifts rest against? Is it safe to lift by just the bottom plywood piece or is there a chance to go through the cabinet like that? How about lifting the sides of the cabinet? Seems like that may put a lot of pressure on a very small part of the cabinet, wouldn't want to rip the side art that way.
Thanks, I had seen this one, I looked at various ones I saw on the net and I'm going to try my own design. Sees like from the dimensions this one rests against the bottom of the pinball, not the sides. Is this what should be done?

Anything wider will not fit through the legs. that's why most if not all lift from the bottom. You can always add several 2 X 4's laid out across so that the load is carried on the edge. It would just depend on how close you are to another pin or wall; as you risk scratching something depending on how far the planks stick out.
That wouldn't be a problem for be. Since I'm building my own design, I'm considering adding swivel arms that would fit between the front legs and then could be turned. I'm guessing after this comment that the cabinet bottom is built strong enough to take the full weight of the unit.

I'm picking one up tomorrow. May have time to modify it and try it, but I've heard they work well with the right bracing on top. You can either come over to take a look, or I can let you know how it goes. Not absolutely sure I need a jack (I have caster dolly's that work (one under each leg), and no real problems putting on legs, but I'm a gimmick hound.

... post script... Squid, I wimped out .. went to pick it up, looks substantial, weighs a ton (which makes sense)... but as I was breaking my back to pick it up, I was thinking, do I really need another dolly, my caster dolly's have been working fairly well (they suffer if you go over radically uneven ground or have the legs set radically different heights), and I only move the pins around in my basement occasionally to shop them out ... so I talked myself out of it.
