I thought I would post about my Fathom playfield adventures. It is just too funny. I posted 2 Fathom playfields for sale on RGP and I got 78 (yes... seventy-eight!!) emails asking me for extra pics and details, even though I am selling these at half the rate they go for usually. I have answered all of them.
Most are asking me questions that are answered in the thread. Only one has come forward and offered to buy it, but can't pay me until May 1st. But I was planning on selling these to help finance the A-Town trip...

Without going through the trouble of trying to find what you posted, what do you mean by pre-CPR? Pre-CPR to me says a repro playfield before CPR repro'd them. Is that what you mean?

Made in 2004, before there was a CPR, but by the guys that made CPR after.

Yes, they would sell, but I don't want to have to stand beside them all weekend to do so. Now, if I were bringing LOTS of playfields, then yes, I would set up in the flea market. But I plan on enjoying myself.
I have one member that has posted interest. The other playfield will probably go to the guy in California that offered to buy it after May 1st, unless someone comes forward.

considering Fathom playfields are always trashed, and new ones are close to $1k.. I'm surprised this one's still around
Because everybody wants the PERFECT playfield, but no one wants to pay. Chances are that if I brought them to Allentown, they would sell in 5 minutes, but I just don't want to deal with that.

I had 3 guys that were hesitating like crazy on the last playfield. They wanted more pics, they wanted the price lowered, they wanted this, they wanted that... yada yada yada...
So I got sick and tired and sold it to a MAACA member in exchange for a 400$ credit on a pin for later. So I then email the three tirekickers to tell them it is gone and for how much.
... all of them are now offering me MORE money instead of less, and want it as-is.
My answer: TOO BAD.
So, I lose an opportunity to make money (again), but this one feels real good!! Let them pay 1K+$ for a CPR playfield now.
So the lesson to be learned here is that if you have a pin with a worn part, and you see one for sale cheap, don't mess around too much with the seller. He isn't obligated to sell it to you.
NOW... on the flipside of that, the guy in California is SO HAPPY to get a playfield. No hassling, nothing. He asked me if I would take a deposit now and payment on May 1st. I said why not. He was so happy and so nice about it, I even t-nutted the playfield for him, and offered to get a plastics set at Allentown and ship it to him with the playfield.
