Theres one up for sale. Dont know condition but asking $2500.00 Isnt described as HUO or collector, so I am assuming average condition, what should I be looking for price wise? What should be willing to fork over?
They aren't as easy to obtain as they were at one time. Methinks $1900 for a pretty decent one (if your able to find one that's nice. The game was popular and got the hell played out of them) and $1500 for a somewhat blown out one.
In this economy who knows. The guy might be looking for the next car payment.
Sounds a bit high to me. I remember last year jvegas sold a decent, but routed, one for around $1400.
Have
Want
-The Getaway: High Speed II!! -Spider-Man -F-14 Tomcat -Guns N' Roses -Lord of the Rings -Twilight Zone
-Medieval Madness! -Indiana Jones (Williams) -Star Trek: The Next Generation -Champion Pub -Terminator 3 -Congo -Johnny Mnemonic -Tales of the Arabian Nights
I hear you guys but just try and find a really nice one lately. Unless your looking for it your probably not going to realize that it isn't so easy to find anymore.
Having said that $2K is probably not out of the question for a really nice one.
Trust me I am not trying to prop it up because I have one. This one is staying unless someone wants to get really foolish about throwing money around. $2K wouldn't even get me interested in selling but that's just me. I have the insurance now that a nice one is sitting here in the basement. Insurance of having a game here that I like in good condition is worth $2-$5 hundred over the going rate to me. After you've spent years running around chasing games and fixing them up you get to this point I believe. To sell something good that you want to keep for even say $2K then run around and find a semi-POS fixer upper plus time and gas for a few hundred less is just false economy to me.
I like fixing them and am generally willing to give away my labour, but at this point I believe I have seen enough not to throw away my money.
BTW this was Sparky's shop job and he did a nice job with it.

I think it is all about how bad you want it . Then , How hard it is to find becomes an important factor . I was craving for a Centaur / Centaur II so much that I had insomnia . I missed on a Centaur II sold by AMX having a second shut at it . The same one came back for sale again and i missed it by 2 hours .
There was 2 Centaurs on ebay , both $2,500. USD , one in Texas , forget about it , the other in New York . Still to far and to expensive anyway . We ' re talking $3,500. CAD back home . So , i ran an add on MAACA and also on Mr. pinball . Someone from Glens Falls , NY state , got to me with one at $850 USD firm . He was honest about its shape and gave me all the details of how bad of shape it was , and beleive me , it was rough .
10 hours drive round trip and $1,200 CAD later , it was home . I figure it ' s gonna cost me around $2,700 CAD , wich is cheaper than those ebay ones that , by the way got sold , and i got 9.5/10 backglass , a CPR playfield , cabinet and back box , 9/10 and an epron remade true numeric transfert . My CPR playfield just got dressed up by TiJacquesx and is ready to be pick up . Some people may think it ' s crazy , some other not ...
I think Centaur restoration is logical. At least you can get parts.
I've always said it's easier to restore an MM than any other game. The reason being you can buy a lot of parts for MM and the price of the game justifies doing it.
Try to do the same thing with a WW or an WH20 (insert numerous pinball titles here). The games just don't command enough $ to justify and you have to scrounge parts. In the case of Centaur and from your research it looks like you have the room $ wise to do what you want to do and you can get the parts you need to do it. Not crazy at all.

Update on the Getaway machine. Finally spoke to the seller today. Says he has owned the machine for 15 years. Seems early for a popular machine to be taken off route. Anyway, says he has done no work whatsoever to it in the 15 years, no rubbers, maintenence, nothing. He said he will sell it for $2000.00 firm.
He passed on my suggestion of $1,800.00 if it checks out. Believe me, for that price I wasnt expecting perfection either. Incidently, its been for sale a couple of weeks. Oh well, what's $200.00 anyway.
