Hey there gang.

It' been a long time since I logged in.

Just popped in to ask if any of the club members are RC car fans?  There is an Ottawa club that races at the offroad track outside Dynamic Hobbies in Collenade, and a year round on road facility just across from King Edward on the QC side.  It seemed to me like Pinball rebuilders might be kind of gearheaded like the rest of us (a good thing IMO) and RC would appeal.  All ages are involved.  In fact there are more thirty-somethings, and I only met two teenaged racers at the outdoor track this summer.

If you're not interested in racing, there may be a route opportunity at the facility on the QC side.  It would be best if there were an owner who also became a member of the RC club.  I still have to put the feelers out at the RCO community to see of tables would be welcome at the indoor track.

It's all a wing and a prayer to bring the two communities together.  In fact, the RCO facility would be a great location for a meet (a small one).  If you're ever starved for a location, you may be able to have a combo event to build awareness in each community.

I dropped the idea over at http://www.rcottawa.com in the general talk thread.  They've thought about renting their space before.  It is, however in a basement, and I'm not sure if both entrances have stairs, which would obviously be a problem for carring tables down.

Check out the forum there, or post support and ideas here.

Thanks.

Anyone in the Sainte Therese, Blainville, Boisbriand and other surrounding areas that are into RC let me know.

There is a cool little area right around the corner here  great for Rock crawling. Although I have to convert my truck for this type of rc'ing.

So MacPhreak, you've already got a crawler?
Thought about racing?  Paydirt was fun.

Honestly, get over to wwww.rcottawa.com
They're hooked into the local scenes.  If you like boats more, there are guys that do that.  If you like planes more, there are guys that do that too.  The huubs tend to be the hobby stores.  I like the offroad racing, but indoor is looking tempting.  I just have to ba able to hide the receipts for the RC cars as well as I hide the receipts for the MAME build.

.

I have 3 types at the moment.
A semi stompin/Crawler with  2 x 17double (Clod Buster)
An onroad/Drifting setup (tt01)
and  an old Tamiya Chevy S10  Dessert racer (Ta02)

Also have an associated  oval racer but it's in pieces and I don't care much for them so don't bother counting it

I tried doing some drifting at  "la Track"  on the south shore but it is carpet and they race on sponge tires the evening before so the carpet is laced with compound. Compound sticks to your drifting tires and makes them sticky so what the point.

Yeah, I googled St. Therese.  You're pretty far from Ottawa.  Shame.  Well, there's occasional Ottawa meets.  You could coordinate with a race.
