I kinda know the answer but thought i would post it anyway.

Here i am, interrested to get a TFTC because i like that game a lot, but i am unsure if the theme would scare my little one to death or not.

Anyone here owns or owned one with 3 years old kids in the house and can tell me how they felt when they saw/played it ?

Also, is there a way to turn the gory animations down a bit to fits little kids a bit better in the options ? I know its the not goal of this pin in the first place hehe but maybe the chainsawed head has a replacement

Thx for your opinions guys and girls,
Sylvain

Depends on the kid I guess.

My kids were playing Doom (or more modern equivalent) on the PC by 3 or 4. My 4 1/2 year old finds the Harry Potter movies more scary than he likes, but I can't see him being scared by a pin or vid.

The only games I don't let the kids play are realistic violent games. Unreal Tournament is OK. GTA is not. They prefer Bob the builder or other kid online flash games.

My 3 year old was cool with Gorgar and Black Knight, but when I got Funhouse and put Rudy to sleep so he snores, she got all creeped out for the first few days.  Know she likes when Rudy snores because she know realizes that is how to get multiball.  All depends.

I don't think that game would be a problem it really not that scary.
Some noises could scare just turn down the sound for a few weeks and place it to normall when they get to be ok with sounds

with a father looking like you and your worried about a pinball machine scaring kids!  hehehehe

but really don't think the machine would be a problem.  even if at first they seem alittle scared, they will enjoy it in no time.  like others pointed out, if the parents are not scared then the child shouldn't really be either.

get some old tftc cartoons and let them see the cryptkeeper in his cartoon form.  that might help if there is a problem.

if you get it and it becomes a big issue, it wouldn't take long to resell it.

Az, perhaps you should make them scared of it! then when they are bad you can warn them about putting them in the same room with the evil demon pinball machine that will eat them alive!

Fear is a great motivator in children. They will do lots of things out of fear for their lives

Thx for all the replys guys, its true that kids wont bother if the parents doesnt..

Example: when my son gets hurt, i never tell him how bad it is, i always said it doesnt matter.. he almost never cries for more than 15 seconds (until he gets the magic kiss !! lol).

Now, it needs to pass by wife's approval...

Mark, BSD was a similar theme BUT, BSD doesnt have a guy shooting himself in the head when you lose your ball, BSD doesnt have a head beeing chaisawed in half.. and so on I really meant the animations, the graphics i'm sure he can get over em, he loves monsters !

Does this pin not have a family mode?  I would have thought for sure they would have one with all that gore.

BTW the nanny let me watch Poltergeist when I was 5/6 ... and I turned out fine.  Well sort of

I tried that setting on mine and I noticed very little difference! Bad for your arguments, but that was my feeling. Besides, It is not the chainsawing the head in half that is bad, It is the straws in the head slurping out the Brains!! Now that's fun!!

Seriously though, that is the whole point of the game, the great animations!! Well, not the whole point, but certainly a Highlight! This should be obvious from the Skill shot animation (Guillotine) to the ball save animation (Gun to the head... Bang!)

By the way, I have never seen it, but they say a Death save (Ball goes out the out lane and is banged back up to the flippers and sent back into play) is supposed to be a cool animation of a Woman getting her face back!!  Sounds cool!! I am going to have to go take the glass off!! ( My death saves only succeed in Bagging me!

Dave

Had it - tried family mode.  It removes the chainsaw head cutting when you get the jackpot and replaces it with the word jackpot.  That's it.

5 hits on the captive ball still decapitates a nerd, hitting the skill shot chops a guy's head off with a guillotine and even shows the head landing in the basket, etc...

I thought it was unsuitable but that's just me.  I don't have my kids playnig 1st perons shooters so...  Call me conservative.  They have their whole life ahead of them to see gore and violence.  They don't have to start this early in life.

My opinion.

Mike
