Just throwing this out there...if I import a game in from the US, what are the customs costs for doing so? Is it a hassle trying to bring across the boarder if I transport it myself? Just looking for a little insight from a member who has done it.
I have done it a few times, purchased games from Michigan and NY (twice), and imported one from California. As a matter of fact, I did purchased my Embryon currently for sale on this board, as-is from NY (near NYC) a few years ago.
Make sure you have a receipt from the person, with his coordinates along with the price paid for the machine(s).
At the border you will be charged 15% tax on the total paid converted in cdn$.
Unless the game is rare and valuable, or dirt cheap, I finally realized it is usually better to shop locally when we can. Darn taxes (and gas) add-up quite a bit...
Good luck, - Sylvain
Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, 1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others. Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!
I brought an upright through the Lacolle border from NY, and all I needed was the receipt. Customs Canada just wants their GST & PST, that's it.
I actually got the seller to write a receipt for $250, even though the game actually cost $450. Border agents don't know what these games are worth.
The only machine you can have a problem with is a Cherry Master or VLT type machine which is considered a gambling machine ... all controlled by the gov't, requiring permits & such.

I tend to agree local or even somewhere else in canada is alot cheaper shipping from province to province is priced fairly decent cheaper than goin to get it yourself. the thrill of the hunt is one of the best feelings tho many of us dont have the paitients when we have the money hopefully this forum and others out there like it will help ease the wait
