In general I would try to avoid screwing another member out of a deal, or starting a bidding war with them.
There is one notable exception. If the auction is by another member. In this case I feel getting a better price for the seller is helping them out and benefiting the community at large.
The question is largely academic. I don't expect to win anything I'm currently bidding on. Just curious what the rest of your opinions are on the subject.
i have had other members email me about bidding against me. i told them all to go for it. no sense screwing a seller out of the price people are willing to pay for a machine. also, what if i one of us puts bids on everything? no one would bid against them. i am all for it. i have been snippered by other members and wass glad they won.
I think it should be fine...especially since it will probably keep the games in the local circle and eventually it will be up for grabs again. Then everyone can have a go at it again!

Dam I figure if you have more money then I want to place on it np The auctions is always there for a few days and if get more money then place another higher bid but to be pissed at somebody outbidding me hell no fair game. Do what you want it does not belong to anybody till auction is done. The only time i get pissed is when I agree to buy a machine from a local person then somebody goes and tells them they will give more and it is worth allot more and then you get screwed.
Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.
I believe an auction is an auction, highest bid should always win. I get beat all the time on Ebay and at Starburst, and I do not take it personally and no one else should. I decide what I want to spend and if someone is willing to spend more, good for him. If I refrain from bidding because a friend wants a pin, that is my personal decision, no one else should feel that they have to also.
I do have a serious problem when a private deal is done, and someone else hears about it and offers more to steal the deal from me. At that point, that is crossing the line.
It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!

You know there's a name for this... It's called shill bidding. I can't stand having guys bid on stuff just 'cause they think the price should be higher yet they have no intention of buying the item. I know some people on this board do this.

IMHO the sad reality of the matter is that when it comes to bidding it is an open forum and people have the right to bid if they are interested in the item for auction. That is to say if they are sincerely interested in the item then they have every right to bid against fellow MAACA members. I agree it's not a good situation, and I myself would try to refrain from this sort of thing, but a lot of people wouldn't, but then again if I really, really wanted the machine............
That being said I agree with Mr. Mikeman that there's no place for shill bidding, and in fact its a disgusting practice. I can't believe people do this to help the seller get a better price. It's the sellers responsibility to list the item properly in the first place so he doesn't get burned, not someone elses.
I have no problem bidding on any item that is up for grabs, but If I know it's a member I would usually contact them just to let them know I was interested as well. I'm pretty sure were all adults here and that no hissy fits will break out because I beat someone out by a couple of bucks. Plus as someone mentioned, it it keeps the games local.
