Thought I'd share, I co-host a podcast called Stealth Geek Unlimited with a few others guys. As the name suggests we shoot the mess about geeky stuff; Movies, Sci-fi, Gaming, etc etc etc.
Anyways this is our first episode, we're trying to get some more listeners so I thought I'd pass it along. I figured you were the perfect audience for it
This episode contains a lot of stuff including discussions about arcades, home arcades, with a focus on Neo Geo.
I try and be as socially aware as possible, so if the setting doesn't allow it then I won't geek out. That's part of the reason we started to pod cast, to talk about our nerdier hobbies and geek qualities with like minded people. I think our respective girlfriends are pleased we have an outlet so we can stop badgering them with news about our latest coin-op finds/that new Sci-Fi flick we MUST see, etc etc.
So this thread has 100 hits or so, how many of you have given us a listen?
Did you enjoy any of it? Any major likes or dislikes?
Feed back is much needed.
Salut,
Nice website,
I started listening to it but stopped after five minutes and here is why......................you swear I have no problem with using the F word in a very intense moment but you are using podcast medium trying to attract listeners and not even 30 sec after the beginning the F word comes out. Geeks don't have to swear. Don't get me wrong I swear too but not in that format. May I suggest to pinpoint who you are trying to attract and then adapt to your audience but so far it did turn me off by falling into the easyness of simply swearing.,
So you asked for opinions you got mine. Let me know if you want me to keep on listening, I believe you have something but as far as I am concerned I like content even if I don't like what you say but the way you say it matters.
Swearing is certainly part of Stealth Geek Unlimited. For me it's not a "selling point", I understand that it makes our show NSFW. It's something I likely can't change because it's co-hosted with others who would likely not censor themselves based on my recommendation to do so. As you stated it's casual swearing, not cursing for the sake of a shock factor or particularly to curse AT anyone.
We're not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, but we're not really aiming at a PG audience either.
So, I would HOPE that the swearing doesn't turn you off entirely. I will in fact make mention of it next time we sit down to record, but I'm not sure how it will be received.
We strive to be nerdy (which isn't hard), to be funny, and to talk about topics that might interest us and our peers.
Anyways, fair comment. Noted. I'm sad to hear you turned it off, but we can't win um all.
Personally speaking I think we start to hit our stride about 17 minutes in. And by stride I just mean an easiness of conversation, shaking off the stiffness of being in front of a mic.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll pass it along.
Hey! no sweat it is a free country but I thought nerds were mommy's boys thus they usually don't swear! Must be the new generation of nerds! I will get back to it and give it a chance to try and give you back comments on content. Keep up the good work it is not easy to do this and it takes time to build an audience so don't give up
Thanks for not writing us off gmaranda, I look forward to hearing your feedback.
We're recording episode 2 right now, I think we're going to be releasing a new episode every other week, or there abouts.
And like the name implies, we're stealth geeks, socially aware (and comfortable) guys, not dudes who hide out in moms basement playing D@D/Warhammer
So maybe we curse to hide our pencil neck, pocket protecting inner geeks, who knows?
The one Co-host Dickey is in a metal band (he drums) and I'm into longboarding and stunt flips as much as I am coin-op equipment. I guess we're strange hybrid "cool geeks"?
Swearing actually was discussed as a topic near the start of the show, based entirely on feedback from listeners. This of course insighted lots more swearing (out of jest) but an actual discussion was had about the language used in the show. Our Co host Dickey seemed put off at first but he seemed to come round a little..
anyways, give it a listen yourself. I haven't heard the final edit (I'm still at work) but I know recording this episode was really hairy, we we're having a really whacky time of it for some reason.

Nerds don't swear (at least in public), but apparently geeks do. You pretty much have to be about 40+ years old now to be considered a nerd. An important distinction.
Yes this latest episode is comprised of some of the oldest recordings we ever had. So there's more cursing than our current stuff. We've toned down the amount of blatant swearing that goes on during our show.
