Looked last night and to me it does not appear to be bent.  I'm attaching front and back pics.  It seems that what's happening is when the coil fires it will actually move the arm all the way to the end for full ramp extension but then immediately slides halfway down and rests (you can see it in it's halfway position in the pics)

From the back pic, it looks like it is rubbing against the top of the upper part of the hole.  Is it possible the whole thing is set too high?

Suggestions very much appreciated.  Stayed up way too late fighting with this and T2 last night.

Dan you need to slide the playfield forward and take a look whats going on with the lock that normally holds the ramp in the up position.  There is a second small coil that fires to release the lock and let  the ramp  drop as well. It should lock fully up when the big coil fires. My guess is the lock isnt quite clicking in place.  Move the ramp up manually and see what is happening. I am sure it is a minor adjustment.

Do you have the manual? If not, get it from ipdb.org and take a look at the mech.

That actually sounds pretty close to my problem wbradley,

Just so I have an idea what to look for, the lock which you are referring to is part 14b in the diagram below and it it supposed to lock the ramp up until the small coil releases it?  Which piece is it supposed to click onto?

Sorry for the diagram..I'm at work, not in front of the machine right now and it was the best way I could think of to get into the specifics.

I agree with Warren on the cause.

I can't really tell from that diagram what it locks it into place on.

Your best bet is to remove the assembly from the PF and get a real good look at it.  Try triggering it manually and see where it is supposed to lock in place and why it isn't.

I agree with both you guys.

Went home at lunch and mostly fought with T2 but took a quick crack at Getaway.  Without removing the assembly it was very hard to figure out where the lock was supposed to be but I fully extended the ramp manually and moved what I assume was the lock because the ramp stayed up fully....which was great.

When I put the playfield back down and tested the ramp it went down fine but when it came back up it only made it halfway, so again not locking.

Getting warmer though!

My guess is spring A #18. Its so much easier to get a small mirror and flashlight and do a visual inspection. Make sure you close the coin door and test.

It's not the spring.

The Spring only acts as the way to return the shaft back to it's resting position after the coil has energized.

If I had to guess, since I can't see the assembly in person,  I'd say it has to do with part 14 as it looks like there is a lip on that part where the assembly should be locking in place.  Then coil 15 would energize to move that clip back thus letting the ramp fall back down.  I'll bet that either that something has worn down or is bent or just not aligned properly to do with part 14 as to why the ramp is being held up.

I'll give this a go ASAP.  Thanks for working with what I've got here (gotta be hard to venture any guesses without seeing it, you guys could probably fix it in a heartbeat in person)

If it turns out to be a total flop I'll take some pics to show you what we're working with but this is all sounding like the correct path to take.  It'd be so much easier if it wasn't way down on the bottom of the playfield.

Can't thank you guys enough for the help.

If I still had my Getaway   I'd take a look at my assembly for you to see how it should be working but I don't, and I remember when I shopped mine it was the one assembly I didn't really take a good look at since it was so involved.

But this is the perfect example of why I always add molex connectors onto every assembly as when you want to troubleshoot things it makes it much easier to remove.
