I pulled this -35 MPU from my Eight Ball Deluxe when I got it. I've deemed it a parts board and have already started removing components, but before I go any further, I thought I'd share a photo of the most hacked MPU I've ever seen.
This is the front and at first glance you might not see much wrong with it:

But this is the reverse side. I've never encountered more ridiculousness since I got into the hobby a few years ago. Considering the fact that there is no acid corrosion, I can't for the life of me figure out what the person that did this was trying to accomplish.
Indeed, quite a hack! Unless the person replaced a few sockets and broke many pads on the component and solder sides... And had to repair with wires...
Or unless it is a rare one-of-a-kind manually wired -35 proto board !
Cheers, - Sylvain.
Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, 1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others. Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!
INCREDIBLE!!!! I don't know what he was trying to accomplish but it was quite complicated. Did the board work???
No. It would just blink at one second intervals over and over forever. I didn't even try to diagnose it. It looks way worse up close. There's lots of broken traces and nasty soldering. It's just not worth trying to repair. I can use the IC's in other boards anyway.
