Not being a vid guy, how hard is it to update a SF Rush to a SF Rush The Rock Alcatraz Edition. Is it a matter of a different board or hard drive? How expensive would this be and is it worthwhile as far as playability. For example is The Rock a better game? I may have the opportunity to buy a twin pair of SF Rush. I believe my wife actually likes this game so I may not have a problem getting it since I did sell my Gorgar. Thanks Steve

Being in the rom burning business ... I should know this....
I "believe" that most of these newer games all have security chips. I'm pretty sure Rush and 2049 share a very similar hardware and an eprom swap and HDD replacement can work, BUT you also need to replace the security chip. (..which unfortunately can not ,as of yet, be copied )
Of course, I'd love to be proven wrong on this, but I know for a fact that Gauntlet does indeed need a security chip replacement for the Dark Legacy upgrade, and I'm pretty darn sure Rush and 2049 need one too. (..this is how game manufacturers made extra revenues and prevented games from being easily upgraded "illegaly " )
Some games (like the Crusin' USA/WORLD/EXOCTICA series ) even have security chip replacements to have them playing linked .
The way the security chips are programmed is by using logic tables. (input x processing = output ). There really is not "data" that can be read off them. The best one could do is to reverse engineer all the possible outputs based on all the possible inputs, and then write the appropriate truth tables. It "can" be done, but it's an incredibly tedious process.
If anyone has any way to crack these, ...let's talk !
