Or, If you could go to some place with one Pin, what Pin would you want it to be?

And if it was to be a New Stern... Which one?

Just curious what people might go out of their way to play... Needless to say, I have such a location and I am wondering what game to put in. I can take something out of stock    or buy something I want to add to my collection later!

  Guns and Roses....I can't stop playing it recently. And a Stern???  Probably a Monopoly or a TSPP  (pstttt..I have both for sale!! )....seriously Harley Davidson...its a game I loved playing while I had it!

Medieval or No Good Gofers. I love both and would still pay money to play on a location if I found them on a trip. MM still seem to be somewhat common in the US on route due to earning power however not sure how I would feel about putting a $6000+ machine on location

Talking Sterns - when people are at my house POTC and Nascar get the most play (vs Monopoly and Ripleys or any of my other classics). Creature is also very popular with friends.

Guess it depends on whether you are going to cater to average person or a pinball player ie Twilight Zone never gets played really by non pin friends.

If you are talking about putting a game on location, I think the best location game ever made is AFM. Simple, easy to understand rules. Great for beginners and tons of fun for the pros. Although I sold mine, I would gladly drop some money in one if I saw one on location.

A system 3 Gottlieb/Premier. Why?

- They are cheap to buy,
- They are built tough,
- There are lenty available out there for parts,
- 95% of people out there can't tell the difference quality-wise or value-wise between a Medieval Madness and a Stargate. In fact, I bet that more than half of non-collector and non-connoisseur pin players will find the Stargate better looking.

Keep this golden rule in mind:

At home, quality is king go for the best. On a route, cash is king, go for the most cost-effective. It will take you 5-6 times longer to start making money with a Medieval madness than a System 3 GTB. And there are more gadgets to break on a MM anyways = more repairs =  more cost.

For a location/route, I'm with Sparky thinking a cheaper older machine is easier for general non-pinball playing crowd.   I have no experience, but thinking a 60/70's pin would attract the 50+ crowd.    Say in a hospital waiting room - or @ a Kiwanis / Legion building.   Mind you a quarter-a-play would be asking a lot for my dad to cough up for a 2 minute game.  

My experience, just having pins for 10 months now is that the simple ruleset games get the most play because the people can easily understand what's going on.   When they play the DMD's their balls drained before they know it.

How would a Bobby Orr Power Play do at the Sensplex in Ottawa do???  4 rinks full of young kids all day long!

My other location has a Mario Andretti and it gets played Tons!! Now I have to go fix it, I got a call today, Left Flipper not working... Probably a broken wire or a broken Flipper link, If I had to guess... That is the problem with Pins on Location, They really do break! System 3 Gottlieb really is a solid design.

Anything made before 1983. Not kidding.

I'll bet if you put a nostalgia piece on location it would make a killing. (Provided it is well-maintained and bullet-proofed so it doesn't have technical issues too quickly.)

They're easy to understand, fun to play and the vintage factor alone would attract a lot of attention. I don't think the average person gives most 'modern' pins a second look. Pinball is dead for a reason. Go back to basics and see what happens.

I recently sold a good friend of mine a Bally Black Jack and his 11 and 13 year old daughters and all their friends are AMAZED by it. They often pass right on by the Wii to play pinball. Most of them have never even seen a pin that old and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I guarantee the South Park or POTC at the local establishment doesn't get that kind of reaction out of them.

I started to read this... and I was sure you were going to say TAF, since it appeals to both players and operators.  It is als the best selling pinball of all time.  So it did something right for operators.

Was a broken Flipper Link, That is the most common problem I have encountered woth located Gottlieb's, that and Coin mech Jams...
