I have a question about that "Sun Glo" stuff that helps make the puck glide on the playfield...
Considering that this stuff is from the 40's, and seems to be messy as hell, jamming switches and making a mess on the floor... is there a less messy alternative? A REAL wax perhaps? A thick-a** coat of Mother's carnauba??
I just find it hard to believe that Sun Glo is the only thing available out there... just curious as I should be picking up my bowler soon.

You still should wax the playfield to add protection and additional speed under the beads, the shuttle should literally float on the play surface. The Sunglo is a time old tradition, it's not really cornmeal (even though it looks like it), it's more of a wax in bead format. I don't know of any alternatives (jsut like peanut shells on bar floors I guess), but there are several speeds available. Check out the shuffleboard community for suggestions, it may be possible to play without it with the right coatings.
Is it an atom? No, it's multiball! Complete MAACA-Wacko!

Something with Teflon would probably be the answer.
I bet a thick spray of silicone would do the job. But, it would get on your hands when you played. That "corn" stuff feels like it has some silicone in it. Caranauba type wax would probably wear off really quick due to the higher friction of a puck vs. a rolling ball. Nowadays that lane itself would be a lower friction material to begin with.
I read the instructions on the cannister at someone's house the other day and it said something about spraying/waxing the lane first.
if there's a mess on the floor, your bowler is missing a part: the pan.
Pics please. I'll need to make one I guess.
