All I can say is I never owned an Ipod, Iphone, Ipad or Iwheel.
MrMikeman's Corvette is far more engaging. For those of you that are unaware, there is a real world out there beyond the virtual one.
But MrMikeman also has an iPad!!!
And yes I've been an Apple HATER all my life and swore I would never buy anything from them... I hate to admit it but I really like it. Can my laptop do the same thing??? Of course it can... But it's bulky and has a short battery life.. I like the iPad because if the interface, the size, and the weight.

The real ipad revolution will come in 18 months once people find new ways to incorporate tablet form into their lives that apple haven't yet imagined.
I disagree. The Ipad isn't a revolution, it hardly can be called an evolution. What Cobra said is valid. He get's as much functionality plus the convenience of a keyboard for less.
Other than it being I-something. WTF is so special?
If someone starts ranting about battery life and heat I am really going to have to laugh. If you want battery life with less heat go buy an Ivibrator.
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone
although I admit if I could afford it I would definately buy a macbook (for protools alone) and if they had some sort of hack in to blackberry messenger I would go with an iphone, I have absolutely zero need for a ipad, I can do anything and them some with my laptop, I have it connected wirelessly to both my home computer, xbox 360 and my tv and I have 2 tBs of space.

Fads and innovative inventions are what's left of our need to evolve technology (which is the manifestation of our gene's role in survival, entertainment being tied into health and wellness), one of the traits that makes us human. In the short term, being a ludite is actually very attractive, but I would have to say that we have a lot to be thankful for AFTER some dubious gimmicks and inventions have matured.
The one related use I can think of for an inexpensive Ipad is something I have contemplated doing with some of the all-in-ones and netbooks that exist ... use them as a handy reference when fixing pinball machines (I have a huge library of resources on my server, and of course the Internet is a veritable smorgasbord of refernece material.)
The other use I contemplated was building it into a kitchen cupboard panel so that I could call up a recipe (or music) when I wanted it in the kitchen rather than collect paper recipes (I consult my recipe books less and less and end up printing a recipe for one mean, bookmarking it for the future, and dumping the paper after the cookin' is done.
Some people get a kick out of collecting and fixing and playing pinball machines, and others ask "Why?"....
....each to his own. If you can afford to acquire each new expensive technology to play with, well more power to you and I am jealous.
Most Apple fan boys need to get on the soap box and scream how good something is or does, like it matters. Then they scream when people act negatively to it. To me it seem like they need the attention. I paid $299 for my mini, Get 9+ hours of battery life, View UTUBE, Look at comics..blah blah
First of all, the person that started the thread doesn't own an iPad. Secondly...
I seriously cannot believe that people get so self-righteous about a $500 gadget. The same people that spend thousands of dollars on a collection of gaming devices.
If your Dell Mini works for you, great. I find mine terribly annoying to use, touchpads = the devil. Different platforms and gadgets all have their pros and cons. Just focusing on the cons of one product (and the iPad has many) isn't very helpful.
People are treating these gadgets like a religion. I have a Dell Mini AND an iPad. If you have a Dell Mini, great, but you don't have to cast aspersions on people that own a competing product in order to make yourself feel better. Jeez, they're just freaking gadgets.

I guess my point was lost. I have a lot of cool gadgets but I do not have to come on here and brag about how many they sold or how uber cool they are. This is like the second thread regarding the IPad. This is a public forum and when you post expect to get all realms of opinions, some good and some bad. My second point was that most people that buy these things don't even understand what it does except it the cool thing to own. My post is not an attack on anyone just my opinion and what I think is better for my buck. From the sounds of it you are enjoying this piece of technology and in the end that is all that matters.

Who did that? Sounds like you're arguing with a straw man.

Screw you guys, I love my iPad. Read all my world new and gadget/video game news this morning at the breakfast table. Didn't touch the newspaper. I also downloaded and read some comic books last night. Yesterday at dinner, I mentioned a youtube video I saw that day and was able to quickly find it and share it with her. Whenever I have guests over and I want to share pictures with them I just hand them the iPad.
It's one of those products that you underestimate until you actually live with it.

Correct my point in starting the thread was to the hugh numbers being sold (whether the unit is good/bad or indifferent) more to do with the economics than anything regarding good and bad .. that stuff started with the haters and the fanboys.
Centigrade 37 ... LOTR in da House ... a Barracora ....... Spidey ... RFM
What's your point? I was defending the usefulness of the product. People were saying how lame the product is and how it doesn't do anything different from a laptop. I wasn't gloating about sales numbers or talking about how cool I was.
