Ok guys things are getting close and one thing from talking with Nick and Mike was the feeling that not many people have committed to bringing any machines to the show.
This is the only show of it's kind here in Canada, there isn't another Pinball show anywhere else in Canada. We all talk about how it would be nice to have a show in Canada and now we have the opportunity to do something to support it and really it seems like we are falling short.
The shows in the US are are supplied by the collectors, not the organizers.
If we want a show like this to survive here in Canada and Thrive we as the collector community need to put the effort in to make the show great. These shows are only ever as good as the people who participate in them.
So for the people who are bringing something Thank you very much for putting in the effort and trying to make this show better.
For the people who aren't my only questions is why aren't you?
YES! Tglover is a crackhead! Complete MAACA-Wacko!

I thought about offering up a couple of my pins, but I won't be able to attend the show. If anyone wants to come up to my place and grab a game (or two) and be responsible for it while it's there I'd be ok with that...
What sucks is I can only carry one pin at a time in my vehicle and I don't have a trailer. I'm not sure I want to drive back and forth for more. I thought about bringing CBW as well as Congo but it still needs work.

I could bring Batman Forever (if I have it by then) and possibly my Star Gazer.
NOW. Here's my concern.. my Star Gazer is collector-quality, and "arguably in the top 5 worldwide" (so I'm told by Big12Bus on RGP). So if anything were to happen to it while it's there.......... I'm afraid I'd have to kill all of your attendees.

I'm bringing Ripleys for the tournament and my Medieval Madness for the free play. My thoughts on the free play area was to bring a game that catches the non-pinball players eye and since MM is what made me really get into pinball when I first played it (before knowing it's price or collectability factors) I figured good choice (hopefully), and the pinball collectors don't often get a chance to play an MM so get both sides with one machine .
Brock - I hear where you are coming from. My MM while very nice, is due for a complete restore so short of mechanical issues, cosmetics not a problem for me. I personally don't think I'd bring a HUO or CQ rare game to the show. It wouldn't be intentionally damaged but non-pin people often go beside the machine to see the gameplay etc so scratched cabs etc could be a problem, let alone broken plastics if you don't have lexan plastic protectors (which you should anyways due to the rarity for your house )I'm coming from Ottawa and would bring more machines except for the van size. I would hope the TO collectors will get behind this show. The guys who just went to Allentown saw how many locals bring machines to make it a success - wouldn't it be great if we can do the same in Canada????? But only we control that by contributing - not Adam, not Mike and not Nick.......it's us.
I'm not too familiar with pinball machines but if they can be taken apart for easy transportation, I can offer my services and vehicle to carry at least one machine

Damage is always a concern, if you have something so rare and in such nice shape that you are going to be afraid to leave it alone for more then 5 minutes then bring something else. What's wrong with Seawitch or magic?
It doesn't have to be the cream of the crop stuff, pinball is pinball, hell it could be a video game as well.
60n1, 100n1, custom MAME, whatever it doesn't matter.
The more stuff everyone brings, the more there is for everyone to play, the more people enjoy the show and the bigger the show gets and maybe just maybe us Canadians can finally have a show to call our own.
Ok, the Star Gazer stays safely guarded at my place.. but if I can get the BF brought to Toronto (or even better, directly to the show) from Ian's place, consider it entered.
Magic is down for the count (fried MPU) and Seawitch isn't mine anymore technically.

Are you worried it might collapse from accumulating too much dust? I don't think you have anything to worry about. Most attendees will probably walk past Star Gazer with their sights set on any sweet, sweet Gottlieb.

You know that's a great point Adam... When I was thinking of which game(s) I could potentially bring to the show I was thinking along the lines of Star Light, Orbitor 1 or Star Gazer etc. because they are games people rarely ever get to see but my concern was potential damage. In the grand scheme of things it probably makes more sense to bring a game that parts are readily available for, as pinball is pinball.

In my case I wouldn't mind bringing the Sparky Ultra MAME cab but I'd hate to have to explain myself about the whole ROM ownership issue to nosey people. Further more, it would have to be working seamlessly or else it would be just taking a lot of real estate on the floor. Oh ya, transportation from Ottawa to Toronto is also an issue...

Are you planning on standing beside it for two days straight?

Yeah, I thought about bringing my MAME in, but besides the whole "legality" issue, I'm worried about reliability of the front end. I suppose with an instruction sheet it'd make sense, but I'd want to make sure it locked out the desktop. It's also not 100% intuitive to navigate, and I've had a couple of issues with the emulator hanging on me. The biggest problem though is that I never put a lock on the cabinet, so I'd be worried about people stealing stuff out of it
My aformentioned Demolition Man pinball will be in the tournament area and my Stern NBA will be in the free play area and may be used as a back-up in the tourny area should there be a "catastrophic failure" in one of the games.
I was going to bring a machine from Ottawa, but my hearse broke down today. The kicker is I was going to deliver said machine after the show to a friend of mine and pick up a new pin at the show. Curse my luck! Anyone ever get a pinball machine into a vw Jetta before?

I was going to bring my restored Aztec but now I'm bringing my newly aquired Grand Lizard. Set up for free play, lets see if it makes it through the weekend. Then its for sale afterwrds. So come on out and check out the Lizard!

Off to other homes to be enjoyed...Freddy a Nightmare on Elm St, Pinbot, F-14, Robocop, Monday Night Football, Flash Gordon, Mr & Mrs Pacman, Meteor, Jurassic Park, Grand Lizard, City Slicker, Baby Pac-man, Wheel Of Fortune and T2 has moved on...man I miss these things when I sell them!
Yes, please bring games, the more the merrier! Free entry if you bring a game!
BUT we need you to REGISTER what you are bringing with Mike Hanley - this way we can avoid duplicates and make sure we have enough room for everybody.
Also its best to avoid bringing in games during show hours if possible to avoid mishaps with all the people there. We have Friday evening to move in plus 8am-10am Sat & Sun.
Let me know if you have any questions - email Mike mike@torontopinballshow.com to register your game.
I emailed Mike last night but so far I havent heard anything back yet, hopefully he'll get to returning the email soon so I can get a better idea of whats involved. Mike, if you check in here, I have a machine I'd like to bring

Do other shows like this have assistance in place to bring in free play machines? Coming in from outside of the GTA is a little more difficult, but within the area, it'd be great to have a show truck for the weekend that we can use to get free play machines in and out of people's houses. Ideally, if we had somewhere to stage things for a while (near the international centre or at Mike's warehouse), we could move machines in the evenings of the weeks before and after the show. My thought would be to set up a schedule where we can hit 3 or 4 houses in a loop, and grab a bunch of machines in an evening, and then do the reverse after the show to put everything back.
the only other shows like this are in the US and pretty much all the games provided are by collectors like us who bring a game or two just to make the show a little bit better.
Now arguably like anything the hobby is much larger in the US then it is here in Canada so the amount of people bringing games will of course be smaller. But like I said it's still important, and yes it can be an inconvenience, but you have to ask yourself.
Do you want this show to do well so it can continue and we can have a show here in Canada or do you want to have to travel to the US every time you want to get your pinball show fix?

This would be handy for the GTA. Naturally, a cost per machine should be incurred for this convenience as some of the 'free-play' machines delivered will likely be for sale. I would be interested as I can only bring one pin at a time. But I suppose the same cost would be better applied to the cost of installing a hitch and trailer rental. Hmmm, the more I think about it, it's almost silly to collect arcade machines without the means to move a few of them at a time.
Ferget it.

My question is...that International center is a huge place. So lets say I have my pin in my truck, parked outside the center...how does it get moved to its place inside? I know from other convention shows I've worked at...not pinball...when you setting up, heck, you can just drive in wherever you need to go. If thats not the case, will they have dollies there for moving pins inside the building? I have my own dolly but really, my truck holds one pin and maybe the dolly if I cram her in...and shes a heavy pin dolly. I'd rather leave it at home

Like I posted earlier what is the logistics plan?
Pinballs and video games are heavy, need to be protected from the environment and are cumbersome to move around.
If this information were clearly posted, I believe the support to the show would improve.
