I'm not very familiar with P2P downloading; never been a fan of it as when it started, there were too many issues with open ports, etc.  The only time I ever used it (utorrent) that I can recall was to get some out of print gaming magazines.

I do have a friend who's wondering about it but he is concerned because of how IP addresses can be traced.  Legalities of P2P downloading aside (I guess there are legit use for it), he's not concerned with his ISP cracking down on him, he's just a privacy nut, I'm surprised he's even able to surf the net considering how open the platform is.

Anyway, can anyone shed some light on it?  Is there a preferred solution to masking your IP address?  Google is our friend but it's also pointing to a heck of a lot of solutions out there.

http://blacklogic.com/ costs money for a vpn account but will be anonymous downloading on public trackers. If hes so concerned maybe he should look into usenet instead?

I've used "HidemyIp"  not sure what the link is....Or I tend to use Imesh for downloads of music etc. Its like $10 for 3 months and its legal.

I just typed in vpn torrent at google search and came up with those. I know lots of rogers users are using a vpn due to rogers thorttling service.

No kidding. Probably ignorant on my part, but I just don't worry about it.
