Hi
Just so you know i have researched this.I have read up on score motors on marvin.
It is not another relay keeping the motor going but that fact the motor overruns home after the home switch is opened so the home switch closes again and keeps it running.
If i help it stop with a little drag it stops at home.
It is a recel lady luck which I think copied gotleib.
The cams are stacked one above each with the motor on the bottom.
It has a brake switch that is intact. It does not seem to have the built in brake in the motor.
It seems that there is too much inertia not enough friction.
I have a gotlieb with a similiar score motor and it stops amlost as soon as the home switch opens. It is certainly harder to rotate by hand.
The cam platters take alot to help it stop. If i hold the brake firmly it barely stops it in time.
I have adjusted the home switch so it opens as soon cam comes to the home position.
I have just purchased this machine and the home switch was bent way apart so the score motor would just coast to a stop after being moved by another switch and therefore partialy worked.
Any ideas?
Thanks Don

Typically this is because a stepping unit (such as bonus or ball/player unit),
or score reel, either does not physically reset to zero (gummed-up mech,
broken/missing spring, broken wire at coil, or no power reaching the coil),
or the zero position on one or more of these units is/are not detected
(e.g. dirty, misadjusted or broken zero position switch on one or more
of these units).

Rarely the problem is mechanical with the score motor itself,
e.g. when the score motor power is stopped, the motor's rotor should 'de-clutch'
to stop the cam immediately. Otherwise, the score motor will continue turning
due to inertia, just enough to catch the motor/home switch back on again for another
spin. Again this is rare!

I have also seen before that improper gapping of the score motor home switch
could also do this...

Good luck !
- Sylvain.
