I really hope that Starburst is not getting a free ride here. They should contribute to MAACA either with a monthly fee or at least a free give away; something. I am all for business interests but not a monopoly. This is a truely targeted audience and as such many pinball businesses may be interested in posting here. Even if only one wants to post there really should be no free ride.
My 2 cents
Current Lineup: Black Knight, Riverboat Gambler, Ripley's Believe it or Not, Flintstones, Orbitor 1, Wipe Out, Breakshot, The Simpsons Pinball Party, Fish Tales, Eight Ball and a 60 in 1 Cocktail.
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone
If there is a discount why is the amount not posted. 5% 10%? or is it the I only have to give this chump 2%. Just seems strange that they are not willing to state the discount.

I realize that this is a 'community' website but isn't this forum owned by Ian? Is he not allowed to do what he wants?
He's been very diplomatic for as long as I've been a member, putting in many hours, and not I'm not going to question his decisions. If he gets a little gravy; great! This website has helped many of us in so many ways. Maybe we should start paying Ian a 5%, 10% or chump 2% tax on every transaction we make courtesy of MAACA?
Just sayin'.

Speaking of Starburst, did anyone notice the HUO WoF they have listed on Kijiji? it's only $500 more than they were selling them for brand new a year and a half ago. GREAT DEAL!
I don't see why there should be a discount for SB posting items, sure it's advertising in a sense, so they should technically pay Sparky, but giving people here a discount just because they don't bother to go to the SB site on their own seems a bit much.
If I were SB however, I would only post things here that are already discounted. just regurgitating what they have on their site would be a waste of time and an invite for some slander, especially if they can be had for less elsewhere.
I am fine if only Ian gets something all I am saying is that Ian and those that put time into MAACA should be rewarded for commercial interests.

Most of the car forums I am a member of have a sponsor area (Companies pay to be a sponsor). Where you can ask questions and the companies can post specials etc...

I don't see a problem, they sold them too cheap NIB. Even Americans were buying them. They can't do good even when they offer good deals!
Have
Want
-The Getaway: High Speed II!! -Spider-Man -F-14 Tomcat -Guns N' Roses -Lord of the Rings -Twilight Zone
-Medieval Madness! -Indiana Jones (Williams) -Star Trek: The Next Generation -Champion Pub -Terminator 3 -Congo -Johnny Mnemonic -Tales of the Arabian Nights
Yea I head Stern gave them crap for blowing them out so cheap.
Anyway, I could care less about the new sections, my only Beef is I wish they were not at the top, prefer not to have to scroll the extra few lines to get to the Machines for Sale section.
Really I think everyone is getting worked up over nothing, my best guess would be they barely get used and eventually fade into the background anyway. We are not the Starburst market, sure some of us will buy the occasional new in box and some parts but their real market is the uninformed home buyer who just wants a pin or vid or 2 and doesn't want the hassle of finding it themselves. Starburst will figure that out soon enough once they start posting ad's and get no traction on them.
Yeah, we are not their mainstream target market for resale pins.
Funny you should say that. I spoke with them for a while and they are looking into putting more emphasis on the collector market and making games more accessible.
It's like I have been saying... I am very excited to see the openness they have. It's been fantastic to see. And the cool thing is that they are just as excited about games as we are as collectors. I chat with Robert and Michel on a regular basis and they are just like any other collector. They do have a passion for the games, not to mention an impressive knowledge base as well.
So like I said... this should benefit EVERYONE. So please stay open and positive about it. You will be surprised!

we have gone a long time without a sponsor and in the beginning users were very generous, but we have to go to the next step, this is still a user run forum. if there is a conflict caused by a sponsor the administration will be involved but i see it as something good as a way to help the interests of the users of this forum to get more of what they really want. as some have said other type of forums at least the ones i go to often have sponsors. its nice because they can do announcements and offer specials etc they are not in competition with the home seller they are here to promote the hobby. wouldn't it be nicer to get new parts from a canadian location and ship canadian instead of doing the border thing? i think so and this is what montreal starburst is trying to do. having a sponsor is good for newbs as well sometime just getting into the hobby they have a starting point to go and look without pressure. everyone is entitled to their opinion and express it here just think a bit what really bothers you before you hit the post button.

I have an interogation about the new section, I looked at it and I saw that there is not only administrator that respond to the thread but regular member as well. My point is: is those 2 sections are vip for some members only or is it for all member? I ask because I notice that I had not the permision to answer a in those, and others do. I only want to know if we need a membership with the stores to get acces to it.

Some posted before the locks were put in place. Simple as that. Only admins and Starburst can post in the section. Same as when everyone requested that only authors of a classified ad can post. In this case it was easier as we limit the postings to a small group. but that doesn't mean censorship. You can post in the forums section about anything.
when there is an interest in a product they have, they really would like you to deal with them directly pm or phone they are here for the community. but as sparky said there is no censorship you are free to start a new topic elsewhere in the forums even if it is about a sponsor.
as for guinea pigs they are kind of the left over parts critter, 3 fingered paws in the back 4 in the front and a missing tail etc.
