For those of you who haven't seen this before......I always enjoy this song when I hear it on the radio or play it for company for that matter. It's nice to place an image with the music.
Nice video. We saw "The Who" at the Corel Centre - made me realize how good they must have been in their time. Thanks to ME we now get to play the game, too. Great music in the game - just wish the song playing in a mode wouldn't change sometimes... ...fun...
Weird movie, but it has great soundtrack. I cannot watch the scene where many EM pinballs are destroyed though !
Cheers, - Sylvain.
Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, 1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others. Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!

Yeah as far as technology was concerned I think "The Who" was ahead of their time. They produced number of great "classic rock," tunes although I don't think they ever had a number 1 hit.
I guess you're referring to the machine "Tommy." I'd be interested in hearing more since I've only seen pics of it and never had a chance to play. The blinders must be a neat feature.
As far as the game itself it was designed after the broadway musical Pete Townsend helped produce or something to that effect.
Sylvain here's one for you and your love for the EM's. Featured in the playoff are two highly desirable EM's, Kings and Queens and Buckaroo, both significantly collectable and highly desirable EM's (especially Buckaroo-with the bucking horse for the backglass anamation). This one incidentally is on my wish list. Anyways here's Elton's version.
The first part of this video serves as an intro before the showdown between Roger and Elton, give it a chance there's some great shots of these machines with the chime and bell sounds.
I think Elton was floating on a helium cloud or something when he sang this one and how was he expecting to beat that deaf, dumb and blind kid without pressing the flipper buttons?

Flashman, Thanks for the Tommy 'Pinball Wizard' link on youtube!
Yep, I own the Tommy DVD, and this is a great scene.
Obviously Tommy is playing his 'custom' piano/Buckaroo pinball machine, and not playing much pinball
The movie is the main reason why the following four machines are collectable and worth some $ still these days: Kings and Queens, Buckaroo (in addition to its BG animation), Wizard and Capt.Fantastic.
We can really tell exactly where Dave Christensen had the 'inspiration' for the backglass and playfield of the collectable 1976 Bally Capt.Fantastic (no, I do not own one!).
What great artwork heavily influenced from that movie scene. (Another great artwork from Dave Christensen is the BG of Nitro GroundShaker).
Thanks again, - Sylvain.
