I picked this up. I don't know what it is but I am into System 11 again. There are a few that interest me but I lately have the feeling I am going to pull a "Medvet" on Sys 11 with the exception of having an area to set them up.

Man what a big head. I have looked at them before but each time I see one of these the head just looks huge. It's full of flashers and the lights sequence along the gun so it is really a sight to see. Always wanted to have one just like Space Station but it is a target of opportunity type title for me.

Fun game that plays really fast. The catapults work amazingly well and the backglass game is actually meaningful to the overall game. Dual sets of flippers, bg animation (game), catapults, flashers galore, drop targets, post and a novel head. It is a really kinetic game for sure with some interesting rules.

I got a complete NOS set of plastics with the exception of the molded cannon ones from the guy. Even has the promo slingshots NOS in there but I am still trying to figure out which direction they go and where. There are a couple of stickers too that are identical to these plastics but stickers. Anyway I am pretty impressed with the goodies... (doesn't take much to impress me when it comes to pinball I guess. )

It's it really good shape all things considered. I will shop and may super-shop this one with a CC pf just because it's a really fast game but the pf really isn't that bad the way it stands.

Side art reminds me of this image from the original Alien movie.

Nope, it's on the driveway. I am moving stuff around in the garage to make it work for now. BG is probably going to go somewhere until I can get WW finished. WW I am awaiting a handful of parts to get back onto it. This isn't going to get any major tear down until WW is done.

Just fixed some switch issues on BG (diode and connections on a couple of things had four switches not registering). Other than that I have the display panel out for some cleaning and gluing the displays back down to the stand-offs.

Do you know something I don't? $700 is an awesome deal for it.... but I didn't get it for that.

$300 would have been a spectacular one and $50 would have been outrageous. If he had paid me to take it, it would have been absolutely heavenly.

Yeah. With the exception of maybe a couple of Sys 11 most are pretty good bang for the buck and they tend to lend themselves to that kind of thinking. As Duane stated they are all pretty varied. Even though they aren't super deep if one had the room for them you would have a lot of variety out of a nice collection of them.

Now that you mention it I am going to add Diner back to my list of wanted.

I know this is going to start a flurry of ridiculous responses but I will say it anyway, WTF

I don't know what it is but every Sys 11 has a smell to it. It's not a stink but it's a Sys 11 smell. I am not about to have a seizure, trust me, but am I the only one that senses that?

I like playing them in other people's collections, but I get bored of them quick.

Banzai, Earthsaker, WW, BG, all fun to play games, but to own for me is tough.  I hope it will still be in one piece for next week would love to give it a shot.

I will keep it whole till then.

As long as the scoring is balanced these games tend to be good competititon games IMHO.

There are no wizard challenges per se on a Sys 11 but to do well the ball has to stay in play and you need to know the scoring system. I challenge you to get to 9X multiplier on this game. Not that the concept is hard, it's the execution. In many ways I would think Sys 11 would be a more fair game to compete on than some of the newer games. There isn't any illusive rules buried in the game that will reward disproportionately. In most of these games it's a matter of sticking to the rules and keeping the ball in play, which to me makes a very good platform for competition.

Lol, so wrong

These games usually make terrible competition games because they have a cumulative jackpots.  Big Guns is the perfect example, during the multiball saving the queen awards an acumulating jackpot that is held over from game to game, so while once person may get a jacpot of 9 million after it has built, the same oppertunity isn't avaliable for another player until the jackpot builds up again.  It makes for some very uneven scoring in a tournament setting and also leads to people sitting and waiting to play the machine once the jackpot has reached a sufficent value.

I know taxi is the same way, I think diner is as well, I can't remeber all the games that have cumulative jackpots but I know that quite a few from this era did.

You said the scoring was balanced, all I was pointing out was it's not

If anything it's more unbalanced then most modern games as everyone gets the exact same scoring oppertunites in them, regardless of how lucrative one mode may be over the other.

Ok so it's not balanced if a whole lot of people who don't know how to play, play in succession.... but this is worse than getting raped by STTNG video mode how? lol.

I'm with Vengeance on this one.. the scoring is pretty unbalanced on Sys11's, so they wouldn't be good tourny machines.  Hell, my 29-million score on Bad Cats was almost entirely Jackpot bonus
