Greetings Earthlings!

PinballJM broght me his scratched and faded AFM cab and nice playfield for some refreshing! The playfield is quite nice but needs a bit of attention around dome inserts, and the cab is quite faded on one side, and has a lot of scratches.

So tonight I started with the head! I basically removed the old side decals with a heatgun and scraper (worked great), sanded, repaired a damaged corner, primed and put on a coat of gloss black. I also sanded and painted the head carriage bolts for that nice glossy look.

I will be putting on another coat of paint tomorrow, and then decals on Sunday...

I drink too much of that crap. I wish they made a version of it without the caffeine. I love the taste, but the stuff gets me too cranked!

That's my old game -- got it from Geoff (aka workingpins). Glad to see Jim is getting the stencils done. Played like an absolute top. A really nice playing AFM and the playfield wasn't bad for an AFM.

Cheers,

Wow... that was easy and went VERY well. I wish they made a set of sideart fro a T2 pin... it would save me a lot of trouble with Adam's T2...

The paint is nice and glossy. I used my HVLP and a spray can in tight corners inside the backbox. I removed, painted and put back on all the hardware.

This went so well, I might just try the cab tomorrow...

OK guys... cabinet is 95% complete. So here is what I started with:

- faded to crap on 2 sides
- wood damage in corners (hidden by the decals... no way of knowing until you stripped it)
- paint faded on coindoor parts
- hardware looks a bit rough

Here are some pics:

So basically, here's what I did:

- stripped all the old decals off with a scraper and a heat gun (shop temp hit 41C when I did it... it was 29 outside...)
- sanded it down
- fixed ALL the problem areas with epoxy wood and bondo
- sanded again
- primed it
- painted the entire cab black
- put down the decals
... and a few little extras...

... and in the end, no moe faded decals, no more grooves in the cab left by the legs, no more drilled holes for a lock bar across the coindoor.

Also... I decided to kick it up a notch. One thing I always found BUTT UGLY on WPC cabs is the hardware on the side of the cab. Big black phosphate-coated bolts sticking out from the sides of the cab. They were dirty and scratched. And if you ask me, even new, they look like crap. especially against a nice cab decal design.

So... I have decided to paint them to match with the cab decals! I just put 3 coats of matching red on them, and will be adding white and black in order to make them match the design on the cab.

Crazy? Yes... but DAMN it looks good...

I just have a bit of hardware left to put on.

NEXT: the playfield.

If you give me the cab decals, I can do a cab for 150-500$ depending on the damage and what is wanted. What is expensive is cab repair.

And I do have pics of the playfield... I just wanted to wait until I started on it. OK, OK... I will post them tonight.

Damn... forgot the pics last night with all the hub-bub with my airbrush compressor and me sadly having to sell the Flash Gordon. I will post the playfield pics tonight, as well as final pics of the painted hardware. Looks awesome!!! Heck, it it was my machine, I would have also continued the design pattern on the coindoor, but with a fresh coat of paint, that looks good too.

Thanks good to hear

Yea I know, I searched for quite a bit and contacted a few people about trying to find decals with no luck.  I guess it's because of the Terminator license that no one wants to touch it.

I found that guy, I asked for them, he gave me an email, I sent them an email and never heard anything, it was years ago that they existed.

There was a guy on RGP making them but last I heard he still had not completed them.

I provided pictures, mainly of the head, to that guy.  I had regular sitrep from him (had to ask every time) and then no more replies.    I too would love to have T2 decals.  Mine are not faded but someone carved initials on it.  Hard to see, but I KNOW they're there.

So, are we going to see those AFM pics?
