and lock it if you must, but I just spent the last 20 minutes typing it before the thread was locked so I'm saying it.
Just avoid the word "dominant" in your discourse, doesn't go over well here and everything should just be "honky dory".
Good point RAB, I think my choice of words is being taken out of context (understandable). What I meant was, it's the primary language and the one we're most subjected to. Phil, if it makes you more comfortable to compare me to an American then that's fine. You also need to keep in mind though that I live in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, and I have done so by choice for many years now. Having come to surround myself and enjoy the many cultural differences around me, I'm simply saying that there's more to Canada than just French and English. To say that Canada is a "bilingual" nation is archaic and absurd. At that point, I have to ask.. am *I* really the one being the "narrow minded American"? English is the universal language as chosen by western culture. It is what it is, a fact is a fact. I'm sorry that you're offended by that but again, but it's simply never going to change. Hate to bring it back to this, but hey.. if Hitler had won WWII we certainly wouldn't be having this discussion.. I think you're missing the point of my "loving poke" at "those pesky French people". I jest because I think it's silly to take such things so seriously. It's like telling a Newfie joke to a Newfie. They laugh! Why can't we? Life's too short, people. There are far more important things to worry about than the French vs. English debate that's gone on for centuries. Like.. what I'm going to have on my pizza for dinner! <-- get the metaphor here? Fin. |

Love ya too man. Absolutely, - it is short and sweet this life thing, no point in wasting it with endless and unresolvable ethnocentric debates. We are not that evolved so as to overcome this ancient silliness. |

Seriously, I need to know, - raw milk cheese, is that still outlawed in ONTARIO ? Be honest, I can take it. |
