Thanks for the reply, Mark and Necro. Appreciate the insight.

In terms of Cliffy vs. Mantis, I have purchased both, but always prefer Mantis if the playfield is nice. The wear (on outholes) isn't from the ball traveling to the hole, it's from the ball hitting the back of the hole then bouncing to the front before it goes down. Mantis protects against this and look better (in my opinion) on a good playfield.

If a hole has a fair amount of wear, I will use a Cliffy protector, but even there I prefer to fix the hole and install a Mantis protector. PLUS I have found Cliffy protectors change the play of the game -- in some cases. Check RGP for discussion on his STTNG protector. And I cann't stand the design of his JP protector. Mantis was a simple and easy install w/ JP plus no change to the play of the game.

Each to his own. For me, I prefer Mantis.
Cheers,
Duane

Thanks mark, believe me I will tread lightly when it comes to my MB playfield.

I might just end up keeping it as is and keep my fingers crossed for a repro pf sometime in the far future. I am not very anal when it comes to playfield stuff. I remember MrHide's AFM looking very rough in pics, but in person when you are playing it, honestly I hardly noticed any wear.

I work for a company that makes CNC Routers. One of my customers actually uses our machines to cut out the blank licensed reproduction playfields that are now coming out. Before anyone starts asking for playfields, all he does is cut the blanks and then they are shipped to be screened and clearcoated by another company, so he does not have any finished product, I already tried. I spoke to him last week and they now going to do a run of KISS playfields. He says that he has been told there will be a bunch more coming in the next few months, so I am sure at some point MB will be one of them.
