This request is aimed at Sparky ( are you still the administrator ? ) but also to anyone who thinks this may be a good idea :
Although some members list the pins or arcade games they own in their member info, not everyone does it, and moreso, the list is probably very inaccurate for most members.
When I have a question about say, a Flash Gordon, I think it would be handy to access an area where I can see all the members who presently own a Flash Gordon. That way, if I have a request for a scan, or some other item specific to that machine, I can zero in on members who might most be able to help me.
Is this a good idea ? Do we have something like this already ? Of course, members would have to be diligent in updating the list as machines come and go.
Not everyone is comfortable with anyone and everyone knowing every machine they have at any given time.
If anything I find the lists slighty agravating, not to single anyone out but Gory is the worst offender, I have to scroll down like 6 pages to get past his list

I know that when I see a member's games listed in their signature, it helps me a lot to focus in on certain games that I either have a problem with and need to solve or one that I am considering to purchase, sometimes even to make an offer. I like the idea but it should be optional because I understand if someone is not comfortable mentioning their machines. Some people like to be the strong silent type and lurk the boards and stay private, I am ok with that too

Couldn't agree more..although I can't really grasp why someone is uncomfortable with sharing info regarding game ownership....but that's the beauty of the list......people can opt in or out.....they can share ALL their info or only SOME of it.
Perhaps the master list would allow people to do away with their lengthy sigs (e.g.) gory. I, for one, would put all my pins on the list and then shorten my sig accordingly.

Personally, I would find it handy.
Yeah... still an administrator...
OK... signatures are the easiest place to do it, but not very effective. The best way I saw was to use http://www.pinballowners.com . Great site, and easy to search for specific machines. The problem is it works by waves... people register their machines, and lose interest quick in updating your account. We had proposed to keep a database here once, but it was too much hassle. People find me annoying already... they don't need for me to PM them every once in a while to ask them what they have.
Also, as Vengeance wrote, there are lots of people that don't want others to know what they have for different reasons.
How about we do this... I will open a sticky thread in the Gameroom section of the forum entitled MACHINE INVENTORY. You can post in it and write what you have. If I see a reply on someone's post, I will delete it. We will keep that thread STRICTLY for inventory's sake. And if you change a machine of yours, merely go in the thread and update your post with a notice stating "UPDATED ON...".
I fixed it for you... you had signatures disabled in your account.
I think he was joking. I disabled sig's as well. Too much redundant scrolling over a handful of large sigs. I will be nicer than Adam and not single anyone out
I can see that this method may be the easiest, but it is not what I envisioned. If I need info on a Flash Gordon, am I still not forced to scroll through a myriad of game lists ? I was hoping to be able to type in "Flash Gordon" and be taken to the Flash Gordon list....or simply scroll through the list according to titles, not according to members.

Know what I mean ?
Click on SEARCH, type Flash Gordon and search in the Gameroom section. Go ahead and try with Barracora... my machine will come up.
I have been using the pinball owners web site that Sparky mentioned for a while but only fully registered recently. It is an excellent site and has great search functions and tie ins to eBay. Definitely need to bookmark this site.
The number of pins are also shown by the country of origin for the member. Canada is up there but I am sure that if only a few of us put in their list of games, we could jump ahead of France and Germany very quickly. Also gives you a sense of who is looking for what which helps in the sales category!

i know. its bad. i should learn how to sort it like others have so its the same amout of machines but taken up less space. others i think have posted more in there signature and loads do it fancy flashes or avatar posts. but they end up taken less space. i will try and fix it sometime
Keep in mind that posting pin lists a) makes you a potential target of thieves, b) could be used by taxman if you don't claim income on pin sales.....
The taxman could have a field day on this site....with or without the pin list. Perhaps we should have an arrangement that any price mentioned on this site should be only 50% of the actual selling price.

Your not the first to mention this. I understand your issue and removed all of that from my signature block. It was helpful when I was upgrading to show what I had and could trade, but I am just not trading or selling to any great extent anymore. There are a few I still want but IMHO I am pretty selective now about what goes out the door.

If thieves can figure out how to get the machines out of my basement, then bravo to them!

I used to be in the security business. House is barred, high security deadbolted and has an alarm not to mention other items that are not so obvious. Then there is the issue of moving them. Like I say have at it. It's easier to hold up a bank.
Sad fact is they probably would go after the car before any pinballs.
Also, consider that the thieves would have a tough time trying to fence (resell) them. What are they gonna do, post them here? Everyone here knows everyone else and would easily recognize a stolen machine. Every machine has its own quirks and scratches that would be tough to hide.

I would be rather nervous though to setup a bunch of AAA HUO games in a garage though. I was kinda nervous having my GNR in my garage for a week before taking it down.
I talked to a guy on RGP once about GNR, and he sent me a bunch of pics of his amazing collection, all in his GARAGE! Here's just one pic showing a fraction of his collection. I really hope he's insured!

Seeing that picture of the garage is exactly what I envision for my garage. I know it will need a touch more heating in the winter of course, but the space and good flooring as seen in this pic is what I would like to achieve. Very nice set up on his part!

My best security is the half a dozen house wives and the retired guys that don't work right around here. I can't do anything outside my house without someone commenting on it. I worked on the car for a couple of days and got approached half a dozen times after asking me what I was up to.
My neighbour is a retiree. After I got back from a week long vacation he mentions to me that he noticed we were gone after a day and that he 'kept a close watch' on my house. It's reassuring, and a bit creepy, all at the same time. Get to know your neighbours!
