I was at Playdium/Starbust today and I was asking them about the auctions and where they would be held in the future.
I was told that this may be the LAST AUCTION on Jan. 19. , a final decision has not been made, but I was told that there would definitely not be as many auctions as there has been in the past and maybe this is the last one.
If that is the case it is a sad day for many of us.

Trying to understand why its a sad day? I have never been, but judging by what cooke said on the November auction it seems there's never anyting of interest - and then the shill-bidding means the price is never great??

If all you're looking for is a cheap non-specific vid, it's a good place to go.
It's sad because it usually turns into a big cgcc/maaca party. Many of us meet for breakfast before the auction and chit chat during the auction. It's a social event more than anything. If it is the last one, I will miss it for that reason alone.
It has often proved to be a waste of time, but I have probably bought 5 pins there over the years. I have also met people there that I have bought pins from, actually got a few great deals that way, and I have also sold a number of pins to people that I have met there. Alot of newbies's go and are looking for direction on buying a pin, and when you offer them a shopped pin with no tax, they welcome it.
Plus as cooke says, it is a meeting place, nice to put a face on people.

i have only been to one and i ended up with 9 machines for a really great price. they were very nice to me and started alot of the auctions pointing to me with the low bid. i really wanted to go again and again. but i had a busy shop on saturdays. now that i have time with others working for me, it looks like i will be without
Yeah, probably. There are a lot of aspects I won't miss about the auctions.
1. Being treated like cattle 2. The auctioneer's 3. Crawling over piles of mess 4. Freezing my a** off 5. Trying to strain to see over the crowd to see a piece of junk I wouldn't look at if it were free in the garbage 6. Someone stealing my extension cord and then getting pissed off that I want it back
Indeed, it's a real crooked carnival....I don't believe it's their last one, I think it's a rumour designed to reel people in.....see you guys there!...actually, since I'm not that tall, I probably WON'T lol
