Finally had an hour to myself on the weekend so I went to the the Movie Thetre (SilverCity "Tech Town" arcade) for the sole purpose of finally playing IJ4. I tried really hard to like it - I really did! In all fairness it is hard to fully appreciate a machine when you can't hear it due to the overpowering vids. 50c a game. I plunked in $1.50 total and played 3 games (left 2 free ones). Was up to 80million on the second game - then the scoop started holding the balls (sure made the ARC multiball the least spectacular thing ever) and only released 1 at a time when all the coils would fire for the ballsearch.
RANT ON: [This pin was in nice overall condition but that one (easily fixable) issue just killed the game. Make no wonder pinball is dying. Due to the mechanical nature the only way to make pinball attractive to future generations is to have multiple machines in an arcade with an onsite service technician. Nothing more frustrating than a less than 100% functional pin. At least with vids it is pretty much either working or dead.] RANT OFF.
It looks nice but the playfield layout is boring and I just could not get into the flow at all. I am sure glad that I did not buy one of these NIB - I was really tempted. Perhaps in a quiet home collection it might be a game you could learn to love but I sure wouldn't want to spend 4k+ to find out.
I love pins with a good licensed theme but the theme was wasted on this one that's for sure. I would certainly give this pin a second chance in a home environment (as long as it wasn't mine).
Tom.
