So..  I've just read in another post about someone kneeing his pin out of anger and ended up hurting himself doing it..  What's the worst you've done out of anger with a damn pinball (or vid too I guess)..  Teamatomics need not reply to this post

I'll start!  I've done the "drop" quite a few times with LOTR...  Lift the front up about 10-12 inches then just drop the f#$ker..  The intermittent switches were driving me nuts - especially on a good game where you're timed and have to hit a ramp, hit it 3 times and it didn't count..  Take the glass off, test it and it works fine..

I've also kicked the coin door but I usually get hurt doing that..  Case in point - last week I got pissed off with Demo man because the ball wasn't falling correctly in the elevator and the game was tilting when I'd try to make fall in.....  Kicked the coin door HARD (bare foot).  Foot slid up..  a portion of my big toe went UNDER the lock bar, the rest went OVER..  Figure it out..      Need I say bloody mess???  Definitely the most blood I've seen since my broken nose 20 years ago..  Damn...

Mike

I have a tendancy to shove machines quite a bit when frustrated, I try to refrain from it as much as possible but my furstration gets the better of me.  Espically on games that don't play right.

Holy sh*t, you guys need to see a physiologist. Kicking and punching a game? I admit I get pissed too, but the worst I do is push against the game and jump back. I usually swear at the game -- when the kids are in bed, otherwise I do the "Oh bother" comment (thanks Winnie the Pooh). No physical damage done to me or the game.

There was one time, I really wanted to destroy a game. I bent down to pick up a toy one of the kids left behind. As I came up, I whacked my head HARD on the gun handle of Shadow. Damn, I saw stars. After that I put padding on all the pinball handles that stick out (ST:TNG, Shadow, JP, etc.)

I find yelling at the top of my lungs costs less in post-traumatic repairs and/or physical injuries... also helpful when it's not your machine i.e. one of the tournament players in Allentown who would yell so loud from time to time that he would create a temporary hush in an abnormally noisy environment!

God I have done my fair share of kicking machine.
One machine that comes to mind that I hit really hard that actually caved the coin door broke the hinge and interlock switch was Judge Dreed.
The machine had me so pissed because it lost track of the balls and then tilted for no reason.
This was when i first got before I shopped it.
Another game was Robocop pin i had one day i got so mad I hit the lock down bar with my fist dont ask why was just mad bent the bar and broke the glass.
Since then never ever to i hit a lock down bar.
Now a days i just shake the machines and walk away.
But i also dont own a pin.

Another that is not pinball related was arcade podium at cyberdome arcade in Ottawa and the guy i was playing the game with was being really cheap on the game also one of my friends maybe about 2 hours of this i snapped and ripe the control  panel pylon completely off.
luckily the head tech that was there was my old boss at the other arcade I worked at.
He let me cool down and gave me the tools i had to fix luckily they had a gutted cab i could steal the wood from because the base was just trashed.

Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.

I admit kicking a machine out of anger... when I was a teenager. Nowadays "darn it" or "fudge" seems to suffice.

OK, YOU"RE the ONE!  I seem to get a lot of your games (coiun door bashed inward)!    I'm not happy that you got hurt, but I am glad to see that the pinball fought back for once!

I had some pins in storage a while back and I was moving one around on the dolly. It slipped and fell down, with the bar on the dolly landing on my foot.

That's when I lost it. I picked up the pin and lifted it up so fast and hard that it flipped right over and landed on the playfield glass side. The glass shattered, some playfield component damage and the cabinet started to split open on the left side of the coindoor.

I lost it even more.

I took out the sledge.

It was t-o-a-s-t.

My foot was sore for a month.

Sparky

PS: It was a deader-than-mess Gottlieb Super Soccer I ended up with in a package deal of parts pins I got for 200$ (9 pins in the lot). this was in 2004).

Usually it's to tear the SOB apart (to fix it right then and there) because some 5 cent switch has denied me completing the wizard mode.

It supports my theory that booze, europeans?, pinballs and dreadlocks just don't mix well.

Now this IS my version of heaven (do we know this place? somewhere in michigan I beleive) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJgJT7XWAho

I like the idea of staging a 12 hour pinball marathon (is 12 hours a marathon?) and tournament. And I seriously need to win a lottery and buy a bigger basement (of which to leave largely unfinished except for electrical, of course)!

I have been on pace to get a BIG record on the DM, on like ball 2 I'm 75% to my best ever score, then 2 balls drain on me within 30 seconds, but the worst I've done is shake the sh*t out of it, because I know if I do anything to it, I have to fix it.  Usually my sanity wins.  I mean, I feel bad after smashing a hockey stick on the crossbar and now I have to buy a new one .

I've hit the PF glass with my fist a couple of times ...then I wake up, closed the machine and walked away.

The worst one I've ever done is on the pc ... Need for Speed "hot pursuit".

hit the wall, a rock and then the cops got me ... lost it, wanted to bang the keyboard but I miscalculated and hit the side of the desk.  My bone was showing up on my hand.

Uninstall-delete-shreded the CD... never played again

take a deep breath and walk away if you're at the point of hitting "a machine"...  (if it's a person, seek help NOW)

The best revenge is GETTING RID of the machine. I couldn't get Pinbot out of my gameroom fast enough. I've NEVER experienced a more frustrating game than that one. I *seriously* considered pulling the game out of my house, driving it to the nearest field and setting the bastard on fire on more than one occasion.

I'm much more restrained now.    When I'm annoyed with a machine I'll intentionally tilt it and call it a couple of profanities. The knowledge that I have to fix whatever I break on it prevents me from doing any real damage... I'd be much more frustrated having to fix damage I caused.

OK, I'm starting a Free Pin Anger Service.  You get overly frustrated with your pin (or any other coin-op machine), call me and I will come pick it up for free.

arcade days in the 70's/80's i would turn my back to the pin and back heel kick the bottom of the f-ing machine.  found out when i did that to haunted house i got free credits.  also got kicked out more then once for my gosh darn swearing.  always heard my name being called out over the jukebox speaker given me my warning.

at home though i just give a toe kick to the underbelly.  nothing too hard.  i tilt alot.
vids... well i have knocked over a machine.  just once.  usally i just smack the cpo and that has restarted a game or two in my time.

seriously though, you guys are nuts!

at worst i'll lightly pound the lockdown bar, look up at the backglass and shake my fists.

btw, being engaged in a game enough to get so angry at it, maybe means you shouldn't sell the game. tv, movies, games, food, etc are so bland these days, why not pursue hobbies good enough to get you emotionally involved??

I guess it depends on what way you look at it.

I almost never get angry when I'm just casually playing some pinball because then it doesn't really matter.  If I'm just playing by myself at home or just for some fun at a friends place then no I don't generally push machines around to much or get Angry.

But put something on the line, be it money, or in terms of a league night at TOPL, points, then things change, things I would let slide when playing casually (A switch working intermitently, game not being level, etc) drive me insane because I know it is affecting my overall ability to play and as such frustrates the hell out of me.  Hense why if I have to play a game in a trounament like setting where it is leaning to the right or left, I'm going to shake the sh!t out of it as much as the tilt will let me to keep it away from those outlanes as a result of bad leveling and if I lose as a result of a poorly maintained machine that is where the shoving comes in.
