Besides the sound of extra balls and specials being won , what type of music do you like to play when in the game room? What made me think this is I just got the new (new for me anyhow) Velvet Revovler CD and holy crap! I have a new game room sound track. Take the best of G'n'R and mix with Stone Temple Pilots (literally as the singer is from STP and all the rest are G'n'R) and you have Velvet Revolver. I haven't heard a rock CD this good in awhile. Also like the new Audioslave CD.

Anyhow, for me I like rock (obviously) and dance/techno and will do retro as well (mostly 80s dance/top 40). Weird mix, but there you go.

Right now, I am in my rock phase, but also loving the new Depeche Mode CD which is just awesome if you like their older stuff.

How about your guys? What do you like?

I took this idea from Gus...  I dubbed the sound of porno flics I got at home and play them in a loop on my Stereo while playing pinball.  I try to hit the pop bumpers in sync with the moaning.  Hey, when you're a pinball wizard like me, you get your trills anyway you can!

Bashing tha balls to the sound of porn!  I'm in heaven!

I dont listen to music while playing my machines because its 70% of the playing fun to hear the machine you are playing

After beeing at Marty's place, i doubt he can listen to any music while playing his LOTR either

If i'm not playing thou : Nightwish, Evergrey, System of a Down, In Flames. Older heavy metal bands are always good too (Judas Priest, W.A.S.P., old Metallica up to And Justice for All... and so on.. oh my teenage years!)

I like techno as well, my 300 watts powered sub can shake the house !

That's it.

I prefer just the sound of the machines, which even at their fairly low volume, makes me deaf for any other sounds in the house (phone ringing, doorbell, wife... )

WHen the house is empty though and I really don't want to hear anything else in the house, I put my DJ Tiesto DVD and make the house shake...

I have a sound system in my gameroom, but it's not pluged in...yet... (winter/spring project)

Frosken...who's heard Gus's/Marty's 'music'... "Hey! I didn't ask for butter in my popcorn!" ...Bong chika chika bongh bong!!!

silence.
I even hate it when there's another machine playing at the same time as me.

For the meeting it's one machine playing at the time !

70's rock... when it REALLY was rock... pure guitar riffs, awesome drums, powerful bass lines...

Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple (Mark II), Ted Nugent, Yes, Genesis (with Gabriel singing), Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull, the Stones (in the 70's...their best period), Skynyrd, Eagles, Triumph, Blue Oyster Cult, Harlequin, Trooper, Kiss... you get the idea...

Damn, I miss my old mullet...

Hey Sparky, if you haven't already...give The Darkness a listen to. Awesome band. Great 70s style rock with a singer that actually sing! I also love the last Kiss CD with the original members!

The Hip & The Headstones

Two great canadian bands that cover all of my many moods.

I have to agree with Azatotht when it comes to playing  the newer pinballs the music and voices are good enouth to captivate my attention.  Especially if I have a few friends over and have my machines running it gets really loud to the point its hard at times to focus on the sounds coming from the machine you are playing.  I have often tried this but the sound from the stereo is just to much.

There is one exception however, when I am playing my electromechanicals than tunes are okay in the backround.

Don't get me wrong I love my tunes. In fact I used to be a DJ at university and that's where I came up with the name flashman, well almost, I used to be "flash" on CKUW Winnipeg's only underground radio station.

As far as the tunes I like listening to I guess its mostly classic rock....with bands like the Tragically Hip, Led Zepplin, the Who, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Rolling Stones, Supertramp, Goddo, Aerosmith, Beatles, etc.   Surprizingly I also quite like John Prine esp. a song called Goofy Old World.

i have two different 45 jukeboxes that i play.  one is full of classic rock & roll jukebox hits plus a great selection of comedy (bob & doug, cheech & chong, steve martin, weird al).  the other has all my punk rock, new wave and new music (white stripes, alexis on fire and yes even Velvet Revovler).  i just enjoy the record sound with all the machines on at once.  looks great and i just close the shop and turn off all the lights.  thats a good reason for me to close early.

I have to admit every time I hear the Who's "Pinball Wizard" no matter where I am and what I'm doing it makes me feel good.  Spectacular tune!  I share your sentiments tartagliag.
