There are a handfull of software designers in pinball. Based on Sterns current direction, perhaps Lyman's talent can best be utilized elsewhere. I dont think that would be the demise of Stern.
Phutz (Bill Phutzenreuter), who also has a stunning record develpoing pinball software, has been out of it since Williams as far as I know. In fact I believe he is/was involved in telecom afterward.
One person cannot make or break a largely collaborative effort. Why do people overblow everything? |

You seem surprised? Stern cut their designers and reuse a lot of concepts (which economically makes great sense for them AND operators) so the next logical step was software. |

The word was that Lyman gave notice, NOT that he was let go. |

I disagree. Look at BDK/IJ4, most people would not buy the game because the software sucks. Now that they finished BDK more people are buying. Isn't Stern's business to sell games? I agree that the effort will go on but it will be more difficult with out a asset like Lyman. If they go cheap on the software and game play where do you go from that? Look at IM it's a great game but it at the limit of cuts that I am willing to accept. Can you imagine IM with software like IJ4? just my .02 |

I deal with enough corporate executive bullshit in a day to know that someone can be "pushed" out. Regardless, it's a bummer... but not all that dramatic. I feel bad for Lyman. No one wishes to be in a tight position. I sincerely hope he left for something better. ... so Donnie, when does Lyman start as your assistant? |
