Just trying to get some info on this pinball 2000, such as price, availabilty and ability to find a RFM playfied to swap in.  It looks like there were alot less Star Wars created.  Plus is there anything to look for when evaluating the condition of this pin.  Any info appreciated.  Reviews welcome too BUT I know its not like real pinball and JAR JAR is a pain in the a**

A nice Pin2000 should be about $2500CDN ( upto $3000 for Prestine/HUO)

RFM is more popular than SW so you "may" be able to find a SW for a bit less.
($2200 for a decent one is good deal IMHO )

RFM was never offered as a Kit.  Only SW was sold as upgrade kit to RFM.
If you're looking at having both, buy an RFM , then the SW kit.
If you buy a SW, you'll never find "just" the RFM PF to swap into it.

BTW. The SW kit is about $1000.

I don't know the numbers, but I "believe" RFM sold 5000 units.
(...isn't that what they say in the "Tilt" Movie.. ? )

And since Williams was actually shut down during the production of SW,
it's quite likely that their production number is less.

Other than the obvious PF wear.

1- Make sure the monitor is good ( crisp picture, no "bouncing" )
2- Ask if the Computer has had the fan upgrade. ( The original PC's had weak fans and sometimes overheated )
3- The mirco-switches (roll-over lanes, outlanes) tend to get "sticky"
( I had to change all 10 of mine on my RFM...)

1- It IS real pinball   ( ... damn fun at that too ! ) , but yes Jar Jar is a PITA.

2- RFM is more "fun" ( superb humor), but SW is actually the "deeper" of the two

3- You're kidding yourself if you think you'll be swapping PFs alot.
I have an RFM with a NIB SW kit.
I installed the SW PF  "ONCE"  and played it for 1 week.
It's been RFM ever since.
It's not that I don't like SW, it's just that the entire swap actually takes more like 30 minutes
(rather than 5) .  Swapping games requires an eprom, PF and plunger change.

Still, like I've preaching all along , I think that Pin2K is an undervalued pin in my opinion,
so get one while they're still reasonably cheap.

Cheers,
Steph

I had a HUO SWEP1 and had a hard time selling it and lost money on it. It was mint in every way. There are many SWE1 kits available to retrofit in a RFM, but few RFM kits were made. It is easier to buy a RFM and then find a SWE1 kit, but a SWE1 kit will cost your around $1K. In evaluating the pin, the usual playfield condition is considered, but now you also have to check the Monitors and CPU's.

Review: Loved the design and easy of service of the pin, but it got boring quickly for me and no one liked to play it, so I used the space for a pin I liked more.

It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!

For the record;

RFM: 7,100 units produced
SWeP1: 4,600 units produced
SWep1(gold): 500 units produced

You can find NIB SW kits around, but they are not as plentyful as they once were, especially @ the $1K price point.  As a reference, Gene was selling them @ his show during Expo for $2k+!, which to me personally is totally not worth the investment.

Yes, that's indeed very true...

It's "almost" a joy to service that pin.
Easy access to everything, nice easy wiring.

.... and being able to take out the PF, flip it upside down on the coffee table
and solder coils while watching hockey is a big plus !

Or eating dinner while doing so.

Does Poutine gravy work well as coil sleeve lubricant ?
