The chances of finding an unshopped domestic TAF at a fair price anymore are astronomical.
I guess I beat the odds. This one came from good old Laniel. How domestic can you get?
Needs a pf to make it fantastic, but sat in one location almost it's entire life so it really has a lot going for it. Some wear around the flips in the black and some minor stuff on the cab. Topper is unscathed. Really the pf is the main issue.
Anyways looking for TAF pf before exploring a redo CC on it. Oh yeah, and the right slingshot plastic.

Congrats Glen.........Pinball Wizard in Montreal (I think that is his name) had a new playfield and a project AF. Not sure if he sold it, but he had it last year. Maybe someone in Montreal can help if it is still available.

Phil is on the horn to him about the pf. I know at one time he was willing to split.
I got a price of $750USD on a refurbed TAFG pf that is original and looks pretty nice. Is there a difference in TAF to TAFG pfs?
Let's just say Duane there is room to make this one a beauty without losing my shirt.
The one I am being offered is an original Lenc Smith. The seller said he swapped for an IPB for a customer and the plywood is softer on the IPB so coils are falling out. Is this BS about the IPB ones?
Anyway here is the money shot on the replacement one being offered.
To commemorate the best selling pinball machine ever, Bally made this Collector's Edition of "The Addams Family" (TAF) in a limited series of only 1000 games and titled it "The Addams Family Special Collectors Edition" with Gold parts and a limited edition plaque on the front. Because of this gold plating, this edition is usually referred to as "The Addams Family Gold" (TAFG).
The regular version of Bally's 1992 "The Addams Family" sold 20,270 units, breaking the old record of 20,230 units held by Bally's 1977 "Eight Ball". > What differs from TAF to TAFG
Legs, lock down bar, cabinet side rails and operations manual are all gold colored, as are the jet bumpers, Thing's box, the bookcase, center ramp wire form, and the artwork on the cabinet and bottom arch.
A numbered and engraved "Limited Edition" plaque is mounted on the front of the cabinet.
A certificate of authenticity is included, numbered and signed by the whole design team.
New speech is included.
A Buy-In button is included.

So having read that, I see no mention of any difference *on the playfield*

Congrats on your latest addition! I for one can understand why this game hold's the title for the most successful pinball ever made, due to the fact overall that it made operator's more money that any other game. This game is fun for most pinballer's whether you're a competative player (right vengeance), someone that is new to pinball or if you're somewhere in the middle. This game keeps you coming back for more......more fun that is. Anyways for me that's what this hobby is all about. Fun and entertainment.
I also really like the sounds, music and voices in this game. Nothing like having one at home to enjoy.
I also stumbled upon one for a decent price too, which totally caught me by surprise.
I am just hoping I haven't exhausted all my luck (& pesos) since I'm still looking for a Medieval Madness.
I have had the machine for one day and fixed all the issues. It was a joke, zero maintenance was done on this machine. Here is a little repair log just for a laugh.
Dirt. I am to the point I don't look like a coal miner when I work on the machine. Cleaned and sanded inside the cab and everything I have access to before tear down.
Q30 not blow. Gone! Looks like it was surgically removed too. I don't know if this was a rob for the TIP102, or if thought the cloud was too bright or it got hot and fell out, anyway Replaced. The cloud flashes.
90% of the bulbs. Blown. Replaced
Mansion board. Cracked solder on header pins and 3 of the plug in lamps removed. Fixed and replaced.
E in Grave. Blown diode. Replaced
Right flipper holding coil. Broken wire and missing diode. Repaired.
Electrical tape that was used instead of rubber on ball launcher removed. Replaced with rubber.
GI connectors. Replaced.
I am going to do full tear down and shop of the pf back on the old one to make sure everything is perfect before transplanting onto the CC pf. So starting today is tumbler and dishwasher time.
You are getting to good at this. It is amazing to me how little it really takes to make machine run properly. Maybe I should give you my No Fear if you want a challenge. Picked up a used Playfield and needs to swapped out.
Time to update the signature.

I'd rather deal with troubleshooting than a pf swap to be honest. The prospects of having an original CC pf in TAF though is worth the b.s. to me. For me a pf swap is a one time deal per title on a machine that I think I am going to leave in the collection.
By the way I stripped the top, cleaned and reassemble it this aft. Plus did the bottom trough and gave Thing a manicure. He cleaned up perfect.
I know exactly what to do now when the new pf comes and won't be spreading dirt all over the place.
I was playing the game and kept looking at that one bulb right next to the blue staircase. It was so bright it was washing out the back of the pf so it was tough to see. So I grab one of those blue bulb covers and plop it on. Hmmm. Now I can see. Not only that it looks really good. I glance over to the left and there are two bulbs under the red stairs. So I think "I wonder what it would look like with red covers" So I popped two on there. Man it really looks good with red glowing under the red stairs and that blue under the blue and I can see!
My first TAF mod.
I am seriously thinking about lining the swamp with some green vinyl and putting a lamp with a green lens into it hooked it to the 5 x graveyard lamp. Sort of a variation on MM's moat. Vinyl so it's a reversible mod.
