Hey Guys / Gals.

This probably belongs in the FS section, but these aren't FS just yet.  I first need to know if anyone is interested in purchasing some of the following transistors commonly found in pretty much any SS pinball machine? (oh, and one diode that goes on every switch and CPU controlled lamp, and solenoid)

TIP102 $0.45 ea
TIP107 $0.45 ea
TIP36C $1.45 ea
1N4004 $5 / 100pcs (or I can offer 500pcs for $20)

Interest so far..
TIP102 - 306pcs (Menace/Vengance/Tijacquesx/Tuborg/TimR/Pinsonly/mindstorm88/poolman/mrMikeman/troyb/Medvet/Tz)
TIP107 - 146pcs (Menace/Vengance/Tuborg/TimR/Mindstorm88/mrMikeman/troyb/Medvet/Tz)
TIP36C - 145pcs (Menace/Vengance/TimR/Pinsonly/poolman/mrMikeman/troyb/Medvet/Tz)
1N4004 - 1800pcs (Vengance/Tijacquesx/Tuborg/Pinsonly/korgull/mrMikeman/troyb/Medvet/Tz)

All pricing is in CDN $$.  Pricing is less than I've ever found locally, and same or better than the US.  Shipping is extra (from Toronto), but I can combine orders for local parties. (ship all MTL orders to one member etc, same as last time)  Shipping would be actual costs.

My suppliers require that I order at least 100pcs of each of the TIP's in order to offer that pricing, so if your interested in anything please post here what you'd like and how many. (I'm thinking I'll order 20pcs of each for myself, so the magic# is 80pcs total)  Once I have enough interest I can place the PO.  Any questions, post away!  If there isn't enough interest, no harm no foul.

I'll take 20 of each TIP and just to clarify $5 gets you 100 - 1N4004 transistors?  If that's the case I'll take 100 of them.

Just to let you guys know if your local and come up short of WPC, common failure related components I do have a pretty decent inventory on hand that I will probably never use up. If it's just onesies twosies of components you need and they aren't anything expensive then I would be glad to just hand you them.

When I get some time   I will do a little inventory and post it.

This wouldn't include Molex / Panduit related stuff since I seem to go through that as fast as I get it.

I allways find it such a PITA when you replace a switch and have to desolder the existing diode, I'd rather just have a ton of these the deal with trying to find one when I need one.  I don't know how many times I've run to Radio Shack looking for one and have to buy a mixer pack and get 30 usless ones so I can find 10 I need.

Man you guys do alot of board repairs!!

Over the years I have barely needed 10 diodes and 10 transistors.

I can't even count how many diodes I've had to replace over the last 5 years on games that I've bought.  As for transistors, I've had to replace a few, but it's always a pain in a** to find these things at a good price in small qty locally.  Figured I might as well take advantage of working for an electronics disti, and offer these up to the group.  (seeing as I would never go through 100pcs of each, which is the min buy for me)

Basically these are fairly generic parts to have on hand if you own more than a few pins, for those just in case moments.  And at these prices, why not keep a few on hand?

Maybe the games you buy don't have PCB hacks?  (or the games that do you pass on?)

I can also look into offering up fuses if the interest is there?  Which I'm sure even HP5P has had to replace now and again.

Doug:

I am sure the guys appreciate your efforts, I was just making a comment. I fortunately have access to many parts through my office, we stock much of the generic stuff and when not, I often get my distributor to "sample" me parts for free. Keep up the good work.

And yes, I am selective in what I buy.

Fuses!! YES! Every fricking game I buy seems to need a few replaced. Amazing how many times I have found incorrect fuses on games.

I hear diode leads also can be used when you can't find a decent toothpick around.

Just riding your a** a little Menace. Maybe you want to break down those Cosco sized orders for these group buys is all I am suggesting.

Yeah, I do the same quite often whenever I need a part for myself, but I like to help others in the group out when I can.  So when I have the time I make some calls to my suppliers, and offer things like this to the group.

I know you're just messin' with me, but in all honesty...  I don't have the time to count out qty's of 10 and 20 pieces.  If anyone wants to buy less than 100pcs, Sayal offers 10pcs / $1.  It just makes it easier for me to sell in these qty's.

Getting close to the min order qty's across the board.  Need commitment on 25 more TIP107's and 10 more TIP36C's.

I'll leave this special buy open for another week.  Or, once I reach the minimum buy point for each TIP, I'll place the order.

Duane and I are definitely in for the order but we're at my cottage this weekend and between dial-up and all pinball supplies at home, we'll need till Mon to place the order if that's Ok? I'll be in for sure for a reasonable number of all the choices and also will put in my vote for a fuse order as my supply form GPE is almost done and locally they're pricey!

thanks

Menace, this is a great way to combine orders & get a really decent price discount, especially in Canada !!

btw ...
For those of you who may not know, and need to get smaller, or larger quantities of these, or almost any
other parts on the market, I find Digikey to be quite reasonable.
They are a US company, but probably their best deal, is that they ship from Winnipeg.
ie: if you order online Monday, you get your package Tuesday morning via Purolator for $8.00 cdn FLAT! FAST!!
No duties, brokers, etc. I use them all the time, not just for pinball electronics.
Some stuff is a bit more expensive, but not too bad:

1N4004 100/$3.95 cdn  500/$15.78 cdn
TIP102 100/ $0.44 ea, or $0.78 in single qty's, etc.
Of course GST applies here .. and the $8 shipping. No PST, unless your in Manitoba I suppose.
They also send you (for free!) this massive catalog twice a year after your first order.

Ok people.  I've updated the qty's with the last round of additions, and I'll be waiting for Duane and ME's requirements once they are back from the cottage.  I think once I've got their qty's all be closing this group buy and placing the order.

Once I have all this completed, I'll be sending out a PM to all who have signed up requiring a shipping address.  (so if you're consolidating with someone, let me know with whom so I can get the pricing correct.)  I'll then be sending out the complete totals per shipment, and you can send payment via EMT or Paypal.  (EMT would be preferred if / where possible to save on the paypal fee's)

Thanks for the interest guys / gals.  Once this round is completed I'll jump right on another round with fuses.

Not meaning to highjack this thread but....

ToMMY,

Well as it turns out it was to good to be true regarding a Digi-Key distributor in Manitoba.  I was almost certain that if they had a distributor in Winnipeg, or Manitoba I would have stumbled accross them by now.

Anyways I looked into it and they do have a distributor close by in MN, which is Minnesota by the way.  A representative told me it's 70 miles from the Manitoba border and shipping through purolator seems pretty reasonable, so it's still may prove useful in the future.

Menace,

I'd be interested in some fuses at a group rate also, if this transpires.

Well as it turns out it was to good to be true regarding a Digi-Key distributor in Manitoba.  I was almost certain that if they had a distributor in Winnipeg, or Manitoba I would have stumbled accross them by now.

Anyways I looked into it and they do have a distributor close by in MN, which is Minneapolis by the way.  A representative told me it's a 6 hr drive from the border and shipping through purolator seems pretty reasonable so it's still may prove useful in the future.

Oh! sorry .. that may be correct !
I guess I figured MN meant Manitoba .. maybe I better brush up on my geography
That, and since Purolator has it in my hands in less that 24 hrs for 8 bucks still blows me away,
well that, and the no duties or brokers thing too. Thought they must be somewhere in Cda,
I stand corrected.

Count me in for a bulk fuse purchase also.

I buy some stuff from Mouser.com, they ship by USPS Global Priority now, but still there willb e a small brokerage charge from Canada Post.  I'd really like to confirm if Digi-Key ships from Canada, that would be great!  I very often use Newark.ca too - although it takes me a couple hours to get rid of all their extra static proof packaging, for $12 the items are always there the next day.  They seem to have a poor on-hand selection of the older molex connectors though.

Just want to update everyone.  I will be closing this group buy on Thursday night @ midnight, and placing the order on Friday.

Once I have completed the order I will be sending out PM's for address info.  Once I have all the address info I will send out the exact payment details including shipping.  Payment can be sent via EMT or Paypal, but EMT is MUCH preferred.

I have a few people that are combining shipping, if there are any others that would like to do so please let me know.  (so far just the Ottawa guys are consolidating)

Digikey in Thief River Falls Minnesota (I think I got it right this time):

Hi Garth,

Thank you for your inquiry.  We are located  at 701 Brooks Ave S in Thief River Falls, MN 56701 approximately 70 miles from the Manitoba border.  This is our only location & where our warehouse is located.  We are able to ship to Canada in Canadian funds via Purolator with packages being precleared and delivery usually next day for most of our Canadian customers.  We may have had a call center in Canada at one time, but all stock has always be shipped from our northwestern Minnesota facility.  Please visit us at our award winning website at http://www.digikey.com for up-to-date pricing, delivery and product information.

Ok people.  I just placed the order for all of the parts.  I don't have an ETA on them yet, if we're lucky maybe sometime next week.

What I will be doing now is going through the list of everyone that ordered and their qtys', sending out PM's for shipping instructions, and then sending out the totals to everyone.  At that point if you could EMT (or Paypal if you really have to) me the funds, I can pack and ship all of this as soon as it arrives.  For those that are local we can work out a pickup/payment as well.

If anyone has questions, fire away!

Also wanted to thank everyone, as these types of things don't work out without your support!
